Need a little help with a backpack

Finally going to update my one of my lens going to pick up the 100-400mm. I will need to update my Beseler Pack because my G4 12in and the 100-400m wont fit. The two packs im looking at are LowePros Compu trekker or CyberPack 6 unless someone else has another one to look at. Im going to drop my 75-300mm except as a travel len.

Can't speak for the two packs you mention, however I've been very impressed with the Lowepro Rover plus. It's a two compartment pack. The bottom is normally for your equipment and the top for other gear you might need if your out for a full day. I can fit my 10D, 100-400L ( upright ) , 17-40L, 28-135, 550EX in the bottom compartment and whatever you like in the top, which is sizable. Also has the option to carry a tripod. Various other zippered pockets, mesh pockets, carry handle and all weather cover.
On the plus side.
1. Loads of room.
2. The harness is adjustable and extremely comfortable.
3. Water resistant fabric plus All Weather cover.
On the minus side.
1. The All Weather cover won't fit if you carry a normal sized tripod.
2. Haven't found it yet. :lol:

I have the computreker aw. overall it's a great bag. I keep a 10d with 24-70 attached, 70-200/2.8, 50/1.4, 1.4X extender, 550 ex flash, and my off camera cord in their (i think thats all that will fit) i am kinda sad that i did not get the nature trekker, but i dont know how i would have carried it, my current bag is heavy enough. the main reason i got the computrekker is that i plan on one day being able to buy a 12 or 15 in. pb g4. that is if i can stay out of the camera store :D

I recently purchased the Computrekker and have been very pleased. When I travel the option to take the laptop & Camera gear in one bag is great, which was my primary motivation for the purchase. When I reached my destination I unloaded the computer related equipment, and left the photo gear in the pack. I used the pack for a week of day hikes, although for anything more then a day hike I would have needed additional room for non camera related equipment. However since I mostly only do day hikes this bag suits my needs very well.

IMHO -The tripod holder in the center of the bag is a better set up then below or to one side because the weight is more evenly distributed for hiking.
I would either buy both packs with plans to return one, or if both bags are available locally take your equipment to the store and give it a real world test.

I've been using the LowePro Nature Trekker backpack and it seems to hold what I need. That includes a 10D, the 16-35 f2.8 L, 50 f1.4, 100 f2.8 macro, 24-85 f3.5-4.5, the 70-200 f2.8L and the 1.4 extender, and a Canon 550EX flash. As well there are various other bits like a Minolta table top tripod, filters and so forth.

My 70-200 is a tiny bit longer than the 100-400 so your lens should fit without any problems.

The NT bag is an all weather pack, and has a very advanced harness so it's fairly comfortable to carry. It has an accessory DayPack that is very nice to throw non photographic items into like a sweater or a book. This can be detached to use as a separate bag or be left attached to the main bag. The is also a very useful tripod mount so you don't have to hand carry your 'pod.

What it doesn't offer is any space for your notebook computer and if you need to carry one then you should probably keep looking keep looking.

I appreciate the info. Now I just need to find a shop that have Compu Trekker and the CyberPack 6 in stock to get a better comparison.
