Can you show some photos?
Possibly not, since the OP's camera doesn't work....

Im not sure what Orange light your on about exactly.. but there are two lights on the front of the S3. A Green focusing light on the right side of the lens [ when looking at the camera from the front ] and a small orangey light on the other side above "PowerShot S3 IS" that is written on the camera... this is the selftimer lamp.. and it comes on and flashes when the self timer is being used.. If that light comes on there isnt anything wrong.. just means your using the selftimer mode [ 2secs, 10secs, Custom ].
Thanks

The light appears above the PowerShot S3 IS, and is on constantly, does not blink. Little by little I am getting some of the camera functions back, but the light is still on. Could this have something to do with moisture in the camera?

If you have exposed the camera, by mistake, to excess moisture...my suggestion would be to TURN IT OFF immediately.
Open everything up and let it dry for days and days. I have not had any personal experiences but remember reading that 99% of the problems that occur when a camera has been dropped in the water.... came because the operator was using the camera long before it completely dried out. The excess retained moisture allowed for electrical shorting that wold not have occurred if it was fully dried out.
This is NOT personal experience, but I believe reasonable advice.

Hmmm dont remember ever hearing that before... What rich says is a good thing to do! Anything eletrical that has excess moisture should be switched off immediatly and opened up [ but not taken apart, dont want to viod that warranty ] and let dry as rich has said.
if its still not working give customer service a call/email.
Thanks

During a recent hike I fell in a stream with the S3IS, and some water got inside. I immediately pulled out the batteries and SD card, and let the camera "dry out" for a couple of weeks, not knowing whether it would work. One day I risked it and turned it on, and noticed the green focusing light constantly on, even with the camera off. Tried again after a few days, and all was working except that the camera would turn off when zooming the lens out to the max optical length. Waited a few days more and all has been working well since then, except for some grime that got inside the lcd casing. Wonder if I could open it to clean it, though it's really only an esthetic issue.

Thanks that's good information. I have done the same, since I'm on vacation I do not have the patience to wait as long. The good news, I think, is that the camera functions are coming back and I am now able to take pictures, even the the orange light is still on.
