So, I've been MIA for a couple of weeks. After our gig in NY, we got back to TX and closed on a bridal shop. :D

We've aquired a ton of beautiful gowns. And a few that are pure silk, but a little dated. I'll be selling those off pretty cheap to photo schools and trash-the-dress fans. There are only a handful of those, so if you want or know of a school that may want them, PM me for details.

Anyway, we decided to move in the direction of a full service wedding boutique...gowns, photography, & coordination services.

Wish us luck!

Wow, talk about giving full service! Congratulations and lots of luck!!

I just bought an used dress - about 5 sizes too small for me, but perfect for a model I have in mind - who will have it fit her by a seamstress next week. :D

That's so cool, Mike! A friend of mine, who's a videographer, has talked about a similar concept offering not only our services and that of a wedding coordinator, but gown and tux rental as well. We may consider doing that in a couple of years if we can find a decent space.

A photographer husband and a bridal shop owner wife. What a great combo. Almost as good as my cousin who owns a floral shop and her husband owns the only funeral home in town. Talk about a monopoly.

Anyway, best of luck in your new endeavor!

We are currently remodeling the store to make room for the gowns. Some of them are over 10lbs! I'll post some pics when we get it all set up. I've not had much luck finding a good videographer round these parts. Everything looks like scenes from the blair witch project (http://www.blairwitch.com/)! So, when someone appears that can handle it and not look totally ghetto, I suppose we'll add video too.

Kathy, you should come to Austin. The location is stunning. We will have 3 models in designer wedding gowns, with as much or as little help as needed. The class is almost full and the shoot is still 2 weeks away. Should be lots of fun!

Thanks for the good wishes!

Thanks for the good wishes!

I got a few PMs asking about the dresses we are trying to get rid of. I still have some. I don't really care who buys them. I can carry over the special rate I was giving to the schools to any individuals as well. I just need them out ASAP to make room for the new ones that are arriving shortly. PM me if interested and I can send details.

I know! We are so tired!

I counted how many gowns we are going to unload - we have 13, and 7 are spoken for. So I had a few more than I thought.

Holly has been up there all day. We already have customers?!?! The store isnt even open yet. I guess thats a good sign.
