Before I make the leap to shoot primary, I wanted to hone my skills in posing the couple since all my experience to date has been shooting PJ style as a second.

I shot this day as a second as well, but took some time to shoot the couple in posed shots while the primary was doing some detail work and shooting other stuff...

Very nice series here.
#1 i wish you had moved the suit rack out of the way, but i like the casualness of the guys.
2 & 4 i think a little lightening of facials expressions would be in order.. i love the expression in 2 but i 'd like to see a little more of the groom.

Numbers 3, 5, and 8 are my favorites of the series. Very nice work. :)

Thanks for the feedback...
Scarlett, how could I lighten the faces? Selective dodging?

Nice work. I like your angles.
But cutting the heads and arms is not to everyone's taste.

Thanks guys, I just wish I was able to do more events.
I only get to do 2-3 weddings every year since this is still a "hobby" to me...

Any shooters in GTA looking for a second photog? =P

Great stuff! Here are my comments:

#1 remove the coat rack
#2 when B&G are "gazing into each others eyes", get a profile of both... here you have neither. Also, if doing that double profile shot in front of the same window, make sure an entire pane is centered between their faces.
#3 Oh, how I love window light! And this is awesome window light. You need to improve the angle of the bride's face... choose full, 2/3 or profile... this is none of the above. Also, be aware of the window panes... lines running through the bride's face are distracting.
#4 & #5 more great window light... nice job.
#6 Very creative!
#7 Where's the firing squad? They are too stiff... relax the posing and you're on the right track.
#8 Great image... would also like to see same pose with bride looking at camera.

I don't intend to be too critical here... you are on the right track! I have been a pro wedding photog for 20 years (full time... no "day job") and I tend to look at all wedding images with a sharp eye.

#1 I really like, reminds me of Toogy's group shots.
#7 I don't like, people are too square on to the camera, and too regularly spaced.

None of the others had any significant impact on me.

All your shots rock. I wouldn't change anything.

Agreed. They do seem to capture what most Asian clients want. Nothing over the top. Mom and Dad like simple, clean and traditional and they write your cheque. I do note that these may be a bit dark for them. Not me, but for them. There does appear to be a preference for slightly (and I mean slightly)overexposed shots - but I would only say be prepeard for the request, don't change anything.
