Well, another day, another fire in northern Nevada. Here are some shots of the tankers on final to runway 26 at 4SD (Stead[the airport the Reno Air Races are at]). They call this airport the "Biggest Little Tanker Base".

Nice shots, of the aircraft, very crisp images and nice prop blur. Shame that they are in use but lets hope that they do a good job which im sure they will.

Excellent series; nice crisp shots... They sure do have a wide variety of kit.
That retardent looks awfully close to the big house in #8. Hope it worked!
Cheers;

Yea, they were able to save all the homes. The fire got right up to some, but they didn't have any major damage. The problem is now its getting into heavy timber and today should be even worse in terms of wind and heat. Usually at night fires will lay down, not this one. I watched it for a bit last night and could still see 30-40ft flames and it moving forward.

im fond of 5 probably because it looks like the helos that my hubby used to work on while he was in the Marines. i never could tell the difference between the 46 or the 47, but i love that shot.
thank you for sharing them.

Don't know why, but #3 really does it for me. Whenever I see one at Tubthumper Tower turning onto a tight base, and you have just a little more aeroplane in your window than normal, the words of Lloyd Bridges in "Airplane" ring loud in my head: "It's coming right at us!":lol:

I agree, it is a awesome sight having a big 'ole P-3 coming straight at you. The sound is awesome also.
