Hey all :)
Been taking an interest in doing some fashion work recently, and got together with a small London-based fashion designer to shoot 8 pieces in her collection.
I thought these came out quite well - relatively basic, but the postures were good and the end result, the clothes, were shown well I thought:

I don't like that you cropped their heads of in just about every single one.
It works in #4 and #6 but the others it just looks weird cropped like that. #5 is good since you see how the outfit fits overall...not just upclose detailing.
Lighting and such looks ok, it works. Just my 2 cents.

This may be totally opposed to what more experienced studio photogs will say, but I think the best way to do great fashion work is to shoot otherwise normal portraits that simply happen to include interesting clothing. I feel that these have too great an emphasis on the clothes, and their quality as portraits are therefore lost.
I think that J.A.F. Doorhof does this exceptionally well. This is hardly a great example of it, but this thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=287656 shows some photos in the style that I mean. The hats the models wear are hardly the focus of the shots, but they play in quite nicely, and they're certainly quite visible.
I hope I've made some sense, but I'd be glad to clear things up further.

They're well done but the cropping is very tight even for my taste.

i like them all, but aren't you supposed to shoot clothing slightly flat, or at least with front light, so that the clothing is the focal point? in 3 and 6,the dresses are in shadow and they are the reason for the picture. your techniques are great and the lighting is awesome, just doesn't fit the purpose i dont think.
im no pro though ;)

I hear you all on the crop thing - A friend of mine also commented on me the cutting the crown of the head in most shots. I did start taking a few shots with a wider crop, but ended up deciding I was wasting too much space. This is definitely one to keep in mind for the next shoot.
The designer I work with was really tough to please - she didn't know what she wanted, which made my life a lot harder. I did start off lighting it very differently, with much nicer background lighting and less shadows on the forefront, but once again, the designer wanted moody and shadow, so I had to bow down to her wants :(
Thanks for the comments guy, much appreciated.
