The volcanic rock in the background is Ailsa Craig, between Scotland & Ireland.
The rock in the foreground is just that, a rock.

This shot was taken from from the Scottish coast.

2 sec exp, tripod (obiously) CPL, ND filter, 17-40L

I find myself wondering what would happen if you shot about a 30 sec exposure? Hard rock with flat, smooth sea? Maybe do it very early/late in the day to get some colors in the sky?
I can't help it - my brain just shifted into overdrive!

That's exactly what I was thinking.
Apart from the brain bit.

I think it is a great shot,, but I don't like the crop.. I would like to see a more normal size pic. More sky and more in front of the rock :?

Beautiful. I think I'd try isolating the rock and the mountain and see
what that woud look like, too.
