I did a photo shoot for a cute little family last night. I'm not so impressed with myself. I thought I picked a good time (6pm) to do a shoot, but the sun was SO BRIGHT! Here are a few images and I have more if anyone might be interested: C/C welcome.

Yeah they're a wee bit bright and the first one seems to be the worst. They're squinting into the sun and the whites are blown out. But you got 4 kids to sit still and smile, that's good! LOL Some cute poses and stuff, but yeah lighting was bad. Next time maybe try to pick a shadier spot or move them at a different angle so its not in their eyes.

I agree with everything you said. The waterfall I set them in front of is actually an entrance to a neighborhood so I didn't have many options as to where to put them, as had I moved them to the other side there would have been a big "Wildcat Run" sign in the pic!
Any suggestions on what time of day to shoot evening pics? I'm in Indiana and it gets dark around 9:30 here this time of year.

If it gets dark at 9:30 then shooting at 6 is not a good time.
It gets dark here at 8:30, and I start shooting around 7 or so, and shoot until 8:15.

You have an AlienBee 800, why didn't you use that?

To be honest, I've never used my alienbee outside and would not even know where to start.
