Hi

It's probably a stupid question, but being a new member I count on your understanding...

A little bit of history at the beginning....
I used to own eos 50e (EOS ELAN IIE) and then I bought its dedicated flash which was 380ex. Later I switched to eos 30 (ELAN 7E EYE CONTROL) and the flash remained the same.
Now I mostly use eos 30D (but from time to time also my analog 30) and still use my old 380ex though I know that 430ex or 580ex would be better...
I use flash rarely and mailnly on family occasions. Never had the opportunity to test a better flash on my camera.
What would I gain switching to 430ex (580ex too costly) ? Are the advantages that big that it's worth buying a new TTL II unit?

Thank You for advice and comments.

Are you happy with the shots you're getting with the 380EX? Or isn't the 380EX giving your the lighting power or feature that would really like to have? If you're happy with the results you're getting with the 380EX, I don't see a reason to upgrade to a more powerful flash unless you foresee, in the near future, needing more power or a feature or two which the 380EX doesn't give you.
