View Full Version : 580EX II not firing 430EX?

I've tried everything...I think all my settings (correct channel, ETTL) are right but I can't get the 430 to fire. The strobe is blinking like it's supposed to but it's simply not communicating with the 580. I can press PILOT and the 580 will flash but the 430 does nothing.

Suggestions?

do you have the blinking thing on the 430 pointed @ the 580? (line of sight) are you trying to use this indoors? if you answered yes to these 2 questions thenyou have a setting wrong.

also check which channel they're on. they should be on the same channel.

The 430 is facing the 580. It's indoors.

They're both on the same channel...the 430 is set to slave...580 is set to master.

hmmm, not sure. Do you have a friend with a speedlite, you could narrow it down by process of elimination. You might have a bad piece of gear.
