Looks to me like a Hawk Moth - but not a UK one - Are you in the USA?

Actually, it does look like a convulvulous hawk moth, which migrate yearly to the UK, but I am not too sure on that one - the head looks too pointed.

Great pictures by the way, love the top one!

PS. What was the size of the moth?

Shots 3 & 4 are good record shots but 1 & 2 have better impact.
