I am thinking about attending Mallory Park this coming weekend for the BSB event, never having been to the circuit before what am I likely to expect as a photographer?
I suspect something like Cadwell or Croft rather than Donnington or Silverstone.

Mallory is a nice little circuit.
There is a long RH bend at the end of the start finish straight, good for the start and pans (although bikes will be leaning the wrong way).
Coming up to the start finish straight is the devils elbow, a tricky (if wet) slightly blind downhill left. Before this is a chicane where you can get a top down view (cars don't use this) and then its the hairpin. You can use a fairly short lens here.
It doesn't have many fences, and you can get quite close to the action. However if its BSB you may find the crowds heavy...
Some of the circuit is quite a bit lower than the banked spectator hills.
This map may help.

Thanks for that, sounds like a good little circuit.
I don't like the sound of heavy crowds, but I particularly want to cover the remaining BSB events.
Should be interesting as I've only ever covered a couple of vintage bike events at Cadwell and they are stood still compared to modern bikes.

BSB will draw big crowds. For example, there will be easily over 20,000 at Croft next month when the BSB circuit comes to town. You will find moving around on race day and photography in general very difficult.

BSB @ Snetterton in April was hell... I would imagine Mallory in July to be the same or worse.
You need to bag your spot early!

Cadwell was my alternative, I think the rain will ultimately govern what I do on Saturday / Sunday.
