Hi,

I have just programmed a new D60 CRW RAW image converter based on Dave Coffin's code, and here are my results.

The sample is from a very small crop of the original

Both Linear images then had exactly the same workflow applied in Photoshop 7.

As you can clearly see Canon's software blurs & blows highlight detail in its linear output, WHY!

And yes the pubs wall was a light yellow as in my converters output.

I say again, NO sharpening was applied to any image.

The images you show are not linear TIFF's, they are linear TIFF's converted to (8-bit) JPG. So, does your converter convert to linear TIFF or from linear TIFF to 16-bit or 8-bit TIFF/JPG?

Hi Pekka,

My converter converts the CRW_RAW file to a 16bit Linear Tiff file.

I then apply my ICC profile in PS7, and then save as 8bit jpeg for web viewing.

It is a 2-part process that involves no canon software.

Looks VERY interesting. Is your software shareware or do you sell it?

Hi,

It is still in Alpha stage, I will post a message on this forum advising when it will be available.

Hi,

I have updated the images on my PBase site to reflect the latest build of my CRW Linear Converter.

http://www.pbase.com/colinwalker/crw

There are now 2 images one without noise reduction and one with.

Changes:-

- Reduced Cyan Halo Around Highlights
- Added Noise Reduction System
- Recalculated WB Coefficients
- Produced new Linear ICC profile to go with the Converter.

Hi All,

I have updated my Pbase gallery to include a couple of model images kindly supplied by: paulandre.com.

Before anyone asks the model was lit with a "Soft Gold Reflector" showing my conversion is more accurate than Canon's feeble attempt!!
