Being North of the really bad ones I sort of enjoy a little hurricane action myself.
When I was little we went to Asateague (sp?) Island for a vacation and had to evacuate due to a hurricane. We had to go to a shopping mall for the day then we drove home early.
i always loved going outside and feeling the wind......id also go find street sign that blew away and kept them in my room:lol:

Worst storm I've ever been in was in the North Pacific, off of the Oregon coast.... December of '82. Winds were 80 knots sustained (about 92 mph) and the seas were twenty feet.
The next one was also off of Oregon, the winds weren't as bad, around 40 knots, but the seas were 40'+.
That was a fun ride. 'Nite for reals.

We were out on patrol. We just pounded through it. It's amazing to see large pieces of metal that's welded to the ship get completely ripped off and thrown into the ocean because of a wave. One storm pushed my ship (180', 1K tons) backwards for three nautical miles when we were supposed to be going ahead five.
The ocean is amazing in its beauty and ferocity.

But once you can make out the outline... there is no doubt that it's a ghost.

LOL, you sound like some of the guys working for me, our dump trailer has had its share of dings. I got my Class 1 license years ago, though it has been quite a few years since I drove any big rigs, but for some reason I keep it updated.

Fo shoo, as much as I despise so many things about insurance companies, it is a necessary evil.
We just added Ethan to our car insurance policy. $110/mo more. Caitlin on the other hand only added $12/mo, talk about discrimination.

Yeah, my brother's brain is like that too. He tracks them. But then he's never spent the night in a closet with another full grown adult and a large chocolate lab both of whom were freaked out. Listening to howling winds, incredibly loud bangs, clangs, thumps... The morning brought complete silence, and when we tentatively emerged from the closet, we found two very large hardwood trees IN THE HOUSE and several power lines down all around the yard. I've had all the hurricane I need. Yep, just checked again and the gauge is still showing "Full". ;)

I went through that during more than one tornado. Well, it was a basement, not a closet. And we had a pekingese, not a chocolate lab. Otherwise, same thing...

G'mae all.
Just caught up - didn't spend much time here yesterday (Sat) - it was Lorinda's birthday, then today (Sun) it was out to a meal for her Grandpa's birthday!
I've seen a few 'Massive MultiQuotes (TM)' while catching up, thanks for keeping on top of things for me everyone ;)
WAS ANYONE AWARE THAT IT IS WU'S BIRTHDAY?? ??

Happy day Wu. :D
Happy Birthday to Wu
Happy Birthday to Wu
May you always roam skyclad
In the suit made for you
Sorry it's a bit late, (see above, we've been celebrating too ;)) but Happy Birthday Wu.
Love the song, Jim :D
Not me, I've been watching The Travel Channel - Samantha Stevens. She was just in Cornish, England...I kept telling Curt...Mark has posted pictures of that...Mark has posted surfers there...
 Glad I've been able to make the places recognisable ;)
New avatar change...the credit card was hurting my eyes for some reason
Looks good Maxy :D

*I want a gauge:confused: Maybe it would keep me out of trouble. Do they make one for blunt force trauma? Mine has to be on full. If I had such a thing maybe I would be more careful.I noticed my gauge got a LOT more sensitive after I got kids. Several "would do" activities now push the gauge into the red zone. Having someone depend on you completely can do that I guess... ;)
I went through that during more than one tornado. Well, it was a basement, not a closet. And we had a pekingese, not a chocolate lab. Otherwise, same thing...
Tornadoes are even harder to be prepared for (like you can be prepared for a tornado in a place where the water table is too high to have basements... ) But we get those here too... They sound like freight trains
