Ditto on both those sentiments! :)
The school district Nutrition Center ran a test program at one of my schools today; bringing in a chef to do a demonstration. Of course, I had to get my camera out.
I should've had this shot for this past weekends WWPD! :D (food and drink)

And the test was a smashing success! It was a little tough to get in and get the shots (with a quick edit for obvious reasons).

I doubt it. These kids get SO much processed crap! I think they're required to put one piece of fruit on their plates, but most of those just end up in the trash because they're in such a hurry to get outside for recess! :( One of my schools has reversed their schedule and the kids go to recess first and *then* come in for lunch. Not *near* as much fruit and salad and milk gets tossed! I don't know why they don't all switch around to that schedule.
And I saw a special on 60 Minutes or some such program about a principal who took over her school's cafeteria (underprivileged, under performing kids) and got rid of all the junk food and soda pop and the kids grades went up in leaps and bounds!!
I know our school district has some sort of *really* big bucks deal with Coca Cola, to keep their machines in our schools, kids health be damned!

Not really, they do stamp her ticket meaning that she can walk on any of their boats for free during the next season... which I believe is Spring/Summer. My mom went with her, and she also got "stamped". She then gave her ticket to Lisa for me to use. Whadda Mom. :D
Dan she doesn't like boats does she?
Not really. But this was the San Juan Islands, so, theoretically, it wouldn't get all up and down like on the ocean. She did get a little ill if she went indoors, but she was fine otherwise. The boat they were on was 110' long. Sounds nice.
Well, I was hopin' for a Dan-O sandwich... but no bean sprouts. It's just not the same without the bean sprouts.

Whats cooking ? lol Jalepenos.
Incidentally, the spell checker doesn't think jalepenos is a word. (It's racist I think), and in the options of 'alternative' choices it gave me, one was 'Pentecostal' and one was 'Penologist' . That is hilarious to me and I don't know why. But I thought you'd all like to know why I'm laughing to myself over here.
EDIT: If you spell it correctly: Jalapenos, it gives much better alternative spellings.  Galapagos, for example.
EDIT #2: After a quick google, penologist doesn't mean what I thought it meant.

Beth I so hear you about the schools and food, E's actually is very strict. No soda and no food whose first ingredient is sugar which means no birthday parties at school.
I pack Eli's lunch every day but Friday, he's a painfully healthy eater. Friday they have pizza and salad so I let him eat there. He has never had soda and we try to keep him off refined sugar but that one is a toughie.

I've seen a number of studies that support wht you said earlier about lunch and grades, etc. It can actually even be done as cheap or more cheaply than traditional trash food. I know school hate to give up the $$ from corps like Pepsi, but there has to be a different way fro them to pull in funds than "poisoning" kids. (somewhat j/k with the use of that term)

Making it fun is half the battle. My little nephew Tommy is a terrible eater, my sil does everything she can think of but he barely eats but 3 or 4 things. She no longer keeps any snack food or cookie type foods in the house so when he asks for the sweets/filler carbs there are none to give.

You are going to love the 2.8 in low light conditions. Do you have any noise removal software? You will need it if you get above 800 ISO, but; it is a great lens for those conditions when you have to shoot at 1600-3200. Actually it is a great lens all around, which is why it is my walk about lens.

Grandmother Update: They had to rush her to surgery late this afternoon. She is doing well. The funny thing (well not really) is this was all caused by a surgery she had when she was 15. HMMM let's think about that for a minute....... She had her apendix (don't you know I can't spell & I know that ain't right) remove when she was 15, the scare tissue from that was causing all the issues. I just wonder what my grandchildren will be saying about our medical techniques when I am 92? Thanks again for all the contiued thoughts and prayers.
Jamie Update: No head ache today -> first day in 32. WOOOOO HOOOOO. Did not check the BP will do that on the way to work in the a.m.

Good Day All
3:00AM here and up to get as much work done as possible, before departing as soon as possible today.
Sorry, but I never really read through yesterdays posts, between pounding away in the office, out at meetings, buying a couple last minute items and attending a company party at a local pub for 5 hrs which sent me home in a cab to an early sleep, I never had time to visit.
I will check in at least once before leaving today, all my time will be here in the office or throwing our stuff in the car.

A friend of mine just E-mailed me and asked if I, or anyone I know, would be interested in an old Pentax kit:
The Pentax K1000 SE (SE! Wow- hurrah!)
What i think is the original lens ASAHI Optical 1:2 50mm
A 28-85 mm zoom, also says 1:3.5-4.5
And a 2x tele-converter
An old Vivtar flash
And one of those gizmos you can attach to camera (has a spot for flash as well) to help hold it steady.
I told her that I'd love to take it off her hands and asked what she wanted for it.... she told me to offer half of what I think it's worth.
Any suggestions?

LOL no. But the Game Fair will have a lot of animals and country people there so may well be called off. They were during the last outbreak. I have just watched the news now and they are slaughtering all the animals on the farms neighbouring the one where the outbreak occurred even though they have no symptoms. The strange thing about this outbreak is that it has been caused by a leak from a Government laboratory that was researching the virus !
