He turns it off at night or else he slurs words like he is drunk for a few hours after waking. He holds his hand level and it shakes like mad until he hits the remote and in seconds in becomes a minor tremor.

I've seen those DBS devices, pretty neat stuff. Parkinson's is a tough one, my dad's tremors are controlled pretty well with his meds, it is the muscle stiffness and related issues that are getting to him. He's no spring chicken at 81 either. He was diagnosed over 12 years ago and had a VERY slow onset, the last year or so however he has declined quite rapidly. The cumulative effect of all of the neurological drugs is also taking its toll in terms of hallucinations and poor sleep. Funny thing is he will hallucinate something and then ask you if it is real, you say no and he laughs about it cause he can understand how outrageous it is. But if he doesn't have you as the buffer to check his hallucinations against he dives into them full force and you have to convince him that you are the real one in the room!

This is no biggie but thank you. I have been under attack by my gall stones. Previous scans had shown them and I was told not to worry unless they "attack". This struck me as a funny term and I kept making the Jaws soundtrack noises when ever we happened to talk about it. Well they attacked:rolleyes: Apparently even if they do surgery it is a one day easy thing.

Funny story: Doc came in to see me while in recovery twice and I was sound asleep. He finally woke me up and was concerned I was so tired and asked if I wanted to be admitted overnight. I told him I had a 9 week baby at home and this was the first chance I had to sleep in months!

Zane, forgot to hit the multi-quote...recipe please on the deviled pork chops.
The original called for bone in 1"chops but they are hard to find unless I go to a butcher so I use center cut no bone about 1/2".
2tsp Worcestershire sauce
1tbs packed brown sugar
2tsp lemon juice(I substitute lime juice)
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1/4tsp cayenne(I use 1/8tsp)
salt
4-6 chops
salt both sides of chops(I do not)
whisk together juice, mustard, Worcestershire, cayenne, and sugar
Place chops on broiler pan and coat 1 side with sauce mix broil 5-6" from source for 6-8 minutes(I do 6 for 1/2" chops) flip and put remaining sauce on other sided broil to an internal temp of 145 which is about 5 minutes in my oven. Sprinkle a little fresh parsley to make it pretty. I serve mine with apple sauce on the side of the plate:)

hey guys(gals), I've been reading scott kelby books on photoshop and others ALLL DAAAYY......very interesting stuff....couldnt stop reading.....they were actually very funny to read: (he was talking about carrying a spray bottle for flowers and added this, lol)
"Tip That Doesn't Belong in This Book
There's another hidden benefit of carrying a small spray bottle in your camera bag: getting wrinkles out of clothes. Just give your shirt, sport coat, photographer's vest, etc., a couple of spritzes before bed and when you wake up in the morning, the wrinkles are gone. I know, this has little to do with photography, but I had this empty space at the bottom here, so I figured I'd pass this on."

You'd likely focus on something in the foreground, so you don't really have to look into the light, just have it in frame. Or in this case, you don't even have to have the source in frame, just the items refracting it. ;)

Man - what a chatty bunch you have been today....
thanks Becky :)
Dad had some chest pain this morning, they admitted him even tho they think all is well, he is being monitored and will have the test in the AM. He's had heart troubles since I was in HS and weathered them all very well. because he has Parkinson's he can't have a traditional tread-mill stress test. All good thoughts accepted!
I hope your Dad's Ok... age is a b***th, Harry's dad has just been diagnosed with Parkinsons... I am going mention to him your comments on these devices...
For academic reasons, we are going to be staying in the states until mid-October. We have lots of hard work ahead of us, but hopefully we can get things back on track in that time... Wish us luck! :D
I've already gone most of the way through enrolling them in a private school here. Still need teacher referrals from their school in Thailand. How exactly to ask for that.
"so hey, since you didn't teach my kids to a high enough standard and I now have to shell out thousands of dollars for tutoring and enroll them in a school in the states, could you write a referral for us?" sigh...
Matthew doesn't like change either, but I've found (cause we've been through a lot of it) that if I talk to him and explain the situations in as much detail as is humanly possible (sometimes this involved a good deal of research on my part including field trips and photos) that he accepts the new situations and actually agrees with our decisions. I had to explain to him tonight why he will be in second grade here. sigh again.
The joys of living in a "third" world country... we have a similar problem in the Bahamas... at the moment we are contemplating what we are goign to do with Alex for high school.
A friend of mine left Nassau for Dbai last year and had to put her son into thrd grade again... she now says -as hard as it was for him - it is the best thing she has ever done. Instead of being at the bottom of forth grade in a new school he is top of third. Confidence wise it has been a huge boost for him.
It has come to my attention that in order for me to print things, the printer cable must be plugged into my computer. Duh.
I think I'll go rest my brain now...
lol, don't forget to put paper in it ;)

Yep. Dwarf. I've seen 'em. Small as a mouse, a bit shorter length-wise though. Not very long lived compared to a standard hamster. Probably requires a special enclosure, hamsters are master escape artists. A little thing like that could easily slip through the bars of a standard enclosure. They make a tasty quick snack for the cats. All bite-sized and such. :)

i am way more confident about my breasts than my photography :).... I did post one but didn't realise you can read the filename... two sayings come to mind...- you are never to old to learn something new... and you can't teach an old dog new tricks.... my future posts will show to which direction I lean...?

Hi TErri hows the day treating ya?
Hi Deb, sorry I had to pop out. Yesterday is now a memory :) and today is in the making.
So Athena you have to enroll the kids in school? Yuk!
We might be moving in the next couple of weeks and I am on the fence because of the whole school thing. Eli isn't great with change (understatement) and while the schools where we are probably moving to are great I can't see moving and then right away starting in school, but perhaps he'll surprise me?? I dunno.

Athena if you have him tutored here to catch up but then go back to where he fell behind...what's the point?
His deficiency is specific to reading. He's never been taught with an intensive phonics program. Over there they are all into the whole language approach, which is cool as a suppliment to phonics, but rather UNcool as a stand alone program. Once he's on track with reading, he'll be fine. He's grade level and up in the rest. But at this point (3rd grade) without being able to read he doesn't stand a chance, but this is the grade that they are no longer learning to read, but rather reading to learn. sigh...
