If you are viewing them on a Windows Browser:
the one on the left LOOKS the way it should.
But the one on the right is the one to PRINT.

And it will print the way the one on the left looks. Make sense?
hmmmmm Using Mac with Firefox . The flower petals in the pic on the <----- side look oversaturated

HERE is the other side of the story. If you edit your images to look good viewed in a browser with Windows, they will look crazy in a color managed browser on a Mac.

The solution is for Safari to get it's Windows version right.

or

IE or Firefox to start managing color.

Which do you think will happen first? :)

That, and you only need the card number, not the actual card in order to place orders. Not like hiding your card away and being unable to use it at the local store. I have had my credit card memorized for years now, I use it so often. ;)
That includes the 3 digit code on the back. :)

One is the actual color as it should be, and the other is how it is displayed on your monitor if I don't tweek it past what it should be.

SO...

If you are looking at it from say a Mac with a color managed browser it looks CRAZY saturated (tweeked past what it should be) because you are seeing the true colors.

AND

If you print the tweeked (for the web) file it will likely print the way the Mac user sees it.

FRUSTRATION.

I had sorted this out in my workflow a couple of months ago and then have played all summer and forgot what I was doing. Now I'm frustrated over the same thing again. Sigh... And extra frustrated with myself for not remembering my solution. :(

If I recall, the closest anyone was able to get was to use sRGB for editing and saving for the web. That seemed to have the least impact on the compared image but until we get a colour managed browser on the PC...

Cat - I can see the color difference in your images. I've noticed that is't more a problem on some images than on others. This one isn't bad at all. However if I copy the image (right click, copy) and paste it into PS (Proof Color Off) it looks overly green. I just wish some genius would come out with a color managed browser for Windows. sigh...

That difference is very slight but when looking for it I was just able to see it.

THUD

 x lots!

(continued: )

WOW WOW WOW!! I WANT AN UNCLE BILL!!!

Me too - me too!!!

Now THAT sounds like fun, doesn't it??

It does indeed. Although that camera is the ultimate reason for me choosing Canon, I doubt I'll ever get to own one. A party for a new owner sounds great and will probably be the nearest I ever get!

Which do you think will happen first? :)

I don't recall colour management to be one of the features of the Windoze version of Safari - it may be and just not listed...

My bet would be for a Firefox plugin to be first.

Been a bit spendy lately.... Whoops....

Sweet box, Pete. When I saw you had the 135L f/2.0 for the Depth of Field I wondered why you hadn't gone for the 85L f/1.2 for it's famed 'razor' plane of focus! Now I know why!

Which magazines do y'all like the best?

I've subscribed to Popular Photography for years. I used to subscribe to Outdoor Photographer also, but I let that one expire because of all the ads. I'll probably let my Pop Photo subscription expire for the same reason. A lot of us here on POTN also subscribe to Rangefinder. Someone posted a link to their web site a couple years ago, pointing out that the subscriptions are free. You just have to fill out a little survey and you'll get it every month in the mail. It's a pretty good magazine, too. Here is the page (http://www.rangefindermag.com/subscribe/) to sign up at.

My favorite photo mag (Petersen’s Photographic Magazine) isn't running anymore :(, but their sister mag - Shutterbug (http://www.shutterbug.com/)is, so I'd likely suggest that one.

Thanks!

Would I kid you. ;)
Ok yes, but not this time.
Damselflies main difference from a dragonfly is that their wings are usually along their bodies when resting though they do spread them to sun once in a while. They are usually skinnier than a dragonfly too and have a more 'hammer' shaped head.
The 22nd. Do I have to have another one??

LOL!
I can see a slight color difference, Cat. The one on top looks a bit more saturated on my browser. But they are very close.

When I first started reading photography editing books I often could not tell the difference between the unedited and edited photo!! After a bit of practice I guess I became trained to spot the little differences in color, saturation, hue, etc.

Speaking of books... a family member is giving me a subscription to a photography magazine as a birthday present. Which magazines do y'all like the best? I currently get zero magazines, but wanted something either to do with outdoor photography or just a general magazine that covered different stuff in each issue. But not too technical or gear oriented, more photo and photo-editing oriented. I need lots of help with basics like composition.
My current subscriptions:
Outdoor Photographer (http://www.outdoorphotographer.com/)-Very good
Shutterbug (http://www.shutterbug.com/)-Good for gear information
PC Photo (http://www.pcphotomag.com/)-Good for tutorials on PP
PhotoTechnique (http://www.magazines.com/ncom/mag?id=3867035174841&mid=0000003297)-A good blend of film and digital, little to no ads
American Photo-Don't waste your time, I toss this one.
and now
Rangefinder

I agree. I had that for a year, too. After the first couple issues, the rest all went straight into the trash can. I don't know why I even bothered to subscribe to it in the first place. I did get the impression it might be a decent magazine for someone who is mainly into portrait and glamor photography. They really seemed to concentrate on that.

I have to run, but I'll have more pics later. He is settling right in, and has already started playing with Tev. He's not quite 8 weeks old, so he still has that teeny kitty cuddle. *sigh*

G'mae, everyone.

What would you do if there were a carwash near your house and people who use it play their music (bass!) so loud that it interferes with your life INSIDE your home?
I was thinking of an attended carwash. If its the un-attended kind, I doubt a call to the head office would do much good anyway. But you could try. A call to the cops would likely work, since they wouldn't have management to deal with at the site, and they could just warn the offender on the spot.

I don't understand the loud music either. All they are doing is destroying their hearing and making other people uncomfortable and angry. We have that problem a lot when sitting in traffic at a light. It really annoys Allie and she sticks her tongue out at the offender. Its hard to scold when she does that, lol.

First step would be to call them and let them know about it. Second step would be to call the police. I'm fairly certain they are violating a noise ordinance.

Much better than the "Baseball bat to the woofer" idea I had.

:D It's fun to have a kitten in the house again. It's been a long time.

The story behind the name....

Tev was hoping to find a black kitten and already had the name Darth Vader all picked out.
Turns out he liked this little orange tabby instead, and decided to just ditch the 'Darth' part and still go with Vader.

It's hilarious to me to call that itty bitty ball of fluff 'Vader'.  But hey, who am I to argue. My first cat was named "Curtains"

I was shooting lead line pony races which is little kids on ponies being led by their parents in a race. Leyla asks one little boy the name of his pony and he proudly exclaims "killer". The mother quietly explained they made the mistake of telling him before they got the pony that he could name it whatever he wanted.

Eli names all of his stuffed animals descriptively, Mr. Cuddles, blue Scooby Doo, tiny tiger. If I told him we were getting a pony (sure we can keep it in the bathroom) he would instantly whip out either the star wars names or this show he loves called Ben 10. We are going up to my brother's house in Mass. next weekend, told the kids they could sleep out back in a tent (a ploy for all of the adults to have actual beds instead of furniture to sleep on) abd he instantly thinks he too will find this mysterious watch thing that the character Ben has that allows him to turn himself into various aliens since of course he found it while on a camping trip. No matter how I try to explain it he will listen and then slyly smile and say, yeah but it could happen.

The car came out pretty good, I thought (just a shame I don't have a 72mm CP filter).

The only problem with the 135 is that I had to stand more or less on the driveway of my neighbour opposite to get the shot. Need to play with the 85L in the same way, I think.

Jamie, I hate those kinds of dreams, so I'll keep my jelly beans, thank you.

Your dream reminded me of the first new car I bought. I picked out the car and went in the back to work out the financing, got it all set up, and then the guy was showing me out the showroom door to pick up my car. I turned to him and said "wasn't I supposed to give you some money?" All the other guys in the showroom started laughing, and my salesman slapped his head and said "yes, lets go back to the office again!":lol: (we still have that car in the family, an 89 Cougar, my older bro drives it)
