:o I am better in the day time than evening, gee thats a bit embarrassing, am I really bad in the evening?:o
. I was just messing with you Glow Boy. Your posts are always lucid. ;) Just not usually so straight forward. :p
Cat let me ask, is this for personal printing or for sales of you images?Any images for sale are outsourced. But I do print things at home like DVD covers, invoices, contact sheets, proof sheets, etc.
Mostly, it will be a document printer, but will need to do a decent photo if it needs to.
I've had a couple Epson printers. The print quality is great and the ink isn't too expensive (compared to other brands). If you do a decent amount of printing, it's a good brand choice. For someone like me, however, Epson is not a good choice. I don't print very often, and if you let an Epson ink jet printer sit for a couple weeks without using it, the ink tends to dry up, clogging the nozzles, and no matter how many times you run it through the printer's cleaning cycle, you're going to end up just throwing the otherwise perfectly good ink cartridge away and installing a new one.
Good info... because sometimes weeks will go by without my printer even getting turned on.

It's a hoax, Jamie. Check snopes.com.
There has been a rash of "You received an e-card" spam emails lately, but they are not viruses. This virus warning you posted dates back to 2001.

Cat - I have an HP Photosmart printer and on it's high end photo (archival) paper it makes gorgeous prints. But the ink costs a small fortune (as does that paper). I don't recommend it. You could refill the cartridges, like I have been for the past 6 months (just for document printing - it prints horrid photos on refill ink), but it's slowly killing my printer... I expect it to die in the next couple of months (and I'll hate the cost to replace it, but whisper "good riddance" too...)
I did a lot of printer research and had settled on a midline Epson. Of course all that is in Thailand and off the top of my head I don't remember which model it was. :)

Nice, Becky :D
I have my very own Tammy on her way!
Thank you Terri, you're gonna love her.
Cleared it up? what did I miss? I thought it was clear but I have been known to miss or skim a post.
Nothing, just from looking at the picture I thought it was an Aussie, but; you two set me straight that it is a heeler.
Cat - we had an Epson but didn't like it due to the noise we now have a Canon I950 which we have had for a few years with no complaints. However, we print very few pictures, we us ours primarily for office stuff and business cards.
Seems like no matter what printer you get, the manufacturers profit is in the ink, not the printer. Also, it use to be Epson ink was the only one considered archival safe, but; that may have changed by now.

Thanks for all the printer information, folks.
Crissa.... I was looking at that one. Can you tell me how often you have to change ink? DO all cartridges usually run out at the same time? And what you usually print with it?
Becky... I can't find that printer at B&H.... could it be a model they don't sell anymore? I'm like you, I rarely print photos at home. But it needs to have good color for the other things I DO print.
Becky.... I need an Aiden fix. ;) Your avatar isn't quenching it. :p

I'm sure there's not a chance of that happening...why? because:
Wu will be in the lab developing some new experiment for the heroes..
I will be eating...
TD will be busy working up insults for Puddles...
Puddles will be practicing plausible deniability...
the Chief will be searching catalogues to find Tommy Bahama shirts for his Teddy Bear...
and of course, Wool will still have his buns superglued to the drivers seat and be unable to go look for his camera bag ;)

That pool shot is AWESOME!!
Cathy, which were you thinking of, the multi or the pixima?
I don't know anymore.  I'm still doing research.
My printer spot is only 18 inches wide. The printer I have right now is in sideways, and it is annoying... I'm looking for something that will fit in the right way. The MP530 (?) that you have is a bit too big. :? But I'm still looking at it.
Here's the main points: I don't often print photos, but do print lots of color items that need to look good.
I don't need a fax or a scanner, but a scanner would be nice. ;)
I want a smaller printer than the one I have (Huge and bulky and stupid)
I would REALLY like the paper feed to be anywhere but upright in the back. (confined space) In the front under the output tray would be ideal.
Cost of ink doesn't concern me TOO much (just a bit). I'm more concerned with cost vs lifespan of a cartridge.
I'm looking at anywhere between 100-200 bucks.
Now you see why I'm confused??

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/skrim/nextone/enawalk.jpgNot for me, but I rarely like selective coloring. It somehow disturbs me that the girl seems almost completely desaturated while there is color to a lot of her surrounds. I don't mean to sound morbid, but it sends that sort of message to my odd brain. I like from behind handholding shots though and would probably like this a lot in BW. :)

OK, confession time. I've never been to the Crater. :o I've been to Diamond Lake, which is a stone's throw from Mt. Mazama (the volcano who's caldera "hosts" Crater Lake), but I've never been to the actual Crater. I'm so ashamed. :o:o

Is that as in bag, singular? Wow, I am almost as bad as my wife and her purses with 2 packs and one satchel, and a pack that just fits my camera and lens (usually strapped to my chest hooked to the shoulder straps on my packs). Oh ya, and there is my Pelican cases too. My name is Jim, and I'm hooked on camera bags. :p

I honestly don't think it can. We're talking the difference between a crop sensor and a full frame. That makes all the difference in the world. I think it will do better than earlier versions, but who really knows.

Yup, he or she fine. It is not a bad thing at all to see a few ribs on a horse. It is not real fit but not fat which would be a bad thing. It's mane is pulled and hooves look trimmed. Nice shiny groomed coat. Yeah that horse is groovy, why?
Edit: on second look that toe on the hoof is a bit long but not horrendous
Woolburr
21st of August 2007 (Tue), 01:09
I personally thought the horse looked very fit and happy...there was someone local that was sure the horse was being abused and starved...you can see the ribs...but the horse looks very well muscled and seemed to be in quite high spirits...I should also add that they had ample shelter, food and water when I was there.
short5
21st of August 2007 (Tue), 01:15
Don't get me started on some of these animal "welfare" people. The horse looks like it is not ridden alot so there is not strong muscle tone but it is in almost perfect flesh. After lightening and inspecting the image the hoof looks a bit long but skin looks as it should. Post another angle if you get a chance. Is this concerned person a horse owner? Not a rescue collector but an actual horse person?
short5
21st of August 2007 (Tue), 01:22
A lot of people have "pasture potatoes" Horses with an injury or lack of training so they are not fit to ride but the just live in a field. People also keep brood mares and they are often a bit long of toe.
Woolburr
21st of August 2007 (Tue), 01:27
I am not sure about the person that reported it...I just happened to be chatting with one of the animal control people who mentioned in passing responding to a complaint about the condition of the horse...since these were the only horses on that particular road...there wasn't much question that this was the horse. I don't have any other full body shots of it. I posted this version in Tupperville. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3765111&postcount=7005

I'm thinking it was more a case of someone with an overactive imagination...there were two horses in the pasture...both had bright shiny coats and were very friendly...and both seemed full on energy...a whole lot more than I had standing around in 95 degrees.
