Hey Wanda!! I will do it after we get back from the lake. I've got a bunch o money saved up for flights and to pay the balance on the discovery cove booking.

Deb Wanda and I are taking our kids to Disney together this winter AGAIN! We took them when they were 4.

What about a pay as you learn plan? Have her pay for gas and part of insurance while she learns as payment for the car when she gets her license. and of course add in behavior and grades and what not for good measure.
That's probably what we will end up doing... or something like it.

Dan... FANTASTIC shots!! I love them. Great variety.

Great catch T.D.

Wade's boss just gave Marian a car.

Oh COOL, good back seat, good for dating.

:shock::shock:

.... it's a rule in our house that you have to purchase your own first car. (something to do with responsibility and morals yadda yadda yadda) So we're thinking of 'letting her' learn how to drive in it, then having her get a (small) loan to buy it from us when she turns 16.

Sounds like a plan, put the money toward the insurance. That will be a shocker, but; even more so when the boys begin to drive.

Please be prepared with beer.

Got a whole case cold and ready. Or well start a fresh tapper if needed.

i think i did well on me test

Good for you.

I feel like posting photos (art center)

Very nice Max, like has already been said, tweak the WB just a tad. You caught some great expressions.

Tomorrow, I'll be hanging out at Dwight McCann's house with a bunch o' other POTN members.

Tell Dwight and other HI from Curt and I. Have a great time.

The solution is a MAC. I need to figure out if that is a solution I am willing to head towards.

MAC was smart and went the way of Media Processing after MS won over the business world. I've toyed with the idea myself.

Here is a shot from Crater lake area ...

"Attempt" would be the operative word in the above sentence.

Oh Puleese.

Some balloon shots from this mornin':
http://www.smugmug.com/photos/187459325-L.jpg

http://www.smugmug.com/photos/187470021-L.jpg

I found a 4 foot foam one for 99, i might get that.

This would be good, or a 4x4. With the cost of lumber the $99 might be the better buy, plus possible resale if she decides she doesn't want to stick with it.

Some more,

http://www.smugmug.com/photos/187458031-L.jpg

Ok - when I use the eye dropper in "monitor color" I get: 3c3d1e
And in PS (managed color?!?) I get 3b4418

ACK!

Double ACK! I'm not sure I want to get into this managed colour thing - sounds too much for my head to handle. As my monitors are set, they seem to show things that look right (and I can see the problems others complain of) and I'll just stay in sRGB to keep things simple... maybe.

* happy dance *

To be honest, I did first hear it from a Scottish co-worker many years ago, but it is used by others here too. We have a much stronger tie to British speech than our friends south of the 49th do.

The two boys from Boring (timbernet: Scott & aussieskier: Riley)

It was a little different than our normal get togethers...we had a good time but it was SO EARLY...most of us just took off in a different direction and the sum total of conversation was "hello" "hi" "got coffee??" Thanks Permi lovely shots. Thanks to all the balloon shooters who posted fire for me. I really like the close ups of the burner. Dan got a great one with gas fumes coming out. It looks like the early hour and the balloon itself soften the reflections on the metal of the burner. You all got really nice exposures of what is hard to shoot, a shiny metal part.

Do you have a 18% gray card? You set a WB off that or take a piece of paper that is true white. Shoot it properly exposed, focus is not important. Menu>custom WB>select(the image of the card or paper)> set your WB to the custom symbol

Hey zane can you fill me in on what is a lightbox and what it is used for and its effect?

Do a search for light cube. It is a semi transparent box usually made of white tent like material. Lights or strobes are placed out side the box and they appear soft, uniform, and diffused inside the box. It is often used for product shoots. I'll post an example in a second.

Skrim17
24th of August 2007 (Fri), 21:51
you could just shoot the box interior and set that as your custom WB.

Hey zane can you fill me in on what is a lightbox and what it is used for and its effect?
A light box is a box that you shine lights into to eliminate shadows. Short Version.
Do you have a 18% gray card? You set a WB off that or take a piece of paper that is true white. Shoot it properly exposed, focus is not important. Menu>custom WB>select(the image of the card or paper)> set your WB to the custom symbol
Could I do that with the piece of cloth that I am using as a back drop. I don't have a 18% card.
