That is very pretty, but it is underexposed. The lightbox will automatically make your camera underexpose... try some +EC to compensate.

Better yet always shoot manual and bracket widely

I shot these in the box too. I lined it with black,true black not gray, paper. I left the top open and in the bottom I placed a small light table, the kind used for tracing and viewing slides. I covered the light table with the same black paper but cut a hole in it. I illuminated the cube from the top and through the hole in the bottom paper. It is also important to consider the reflection from the from opening where you shoot from. Sometimes it is necessary to cover the front and shoot through a small hole.

No, though he has offered to make his studio available to anyone who wants to use it. This outing started as a whale watching excursion Mo had an idea for about a year ago, and Dwight offered to host a BBQ afterward. Looks like it'll be the usual gang of Southern and Central California members, including all four mods, though I think I saw a couple new names on the list, too. The details are in the Whale Watching thread (with a poll) in Member Activities. I'd link to it, but that's such a pain to do on my cell phone...

About 25% of the carpets we are installing these days are a shag, though they are a much tighter pile than that stuff from the 70's. And none of that slime green colour either. ;)

Max, I am no expert on lenses, but I have shot karate promotions in a gym with a 70-200, and 200 was a pretty good reach. You'll have to do a lot of walking up and down the sidelines, but I think 200mm will work fine. Especially since I suppose you are not wanting close-ups of faces or anything like that.

I use a 70-200 on my 20D for football....works just fine. I also have a 300 on the mk2n...which also works just fine...but a 400 would be even nicer...just don't have a spare 7 grand in the lens budget.

Depends on the field...most HS lighting is going to cry for 3200...and you need a decent shutterspeed to freeze the action...

I know that this was directed to TD, but I'll be the meany head and answer for him. ;) I believe there were 36 balloons this year. There were more this morning than there were yesterday. And, yes, he was there this morning, with his visiting cousin from Montana. Lisa and I went as well, then wandered over to the classic car show after launch.

Well, I've been having desktop woes of late. Stopped in to a great computer store in town that has both prebuilt computers or will build to your specs. After they reviewed my tales and the specs of my computer, it was determined that at the least I would have to wipe the slate clean and start over with it, and that if we were to do the build today, it would only be worth about the cost of the 2 250 GB hard drives. Long story short, I bought a new computer, will get it up and running with all my software on it, the go about reformatting my old one and passing it along. Well, that is after they build it for me, which will likely be Tuesday or Wednesday.

And to add to that, I need to either replace my notebook and pass the old one on to Caitlin, or just get her a new one. She starts back to school on the 4th and needs it then. I do have my choices narrowed down to about 4 notebooks, I just have to decide. After this expense, I may go without one for a while and just give mine to Caitlin, and then just pick one up as needed. Fortunately, all this computer stuff can be a business expense.

It seems I may never get the new vehicle I want with everything else I have spent money on lately. I keep using what would be the new vehicle payments for all these items. Sheesh.

The biggest problem I find with any laptop is the screen for photo editing or display. Having the best screen I could get was what I set out to find. The newest MacBook Pros seems about the best out there, followed by a a few other Windows base ones. The issue, they are all at around the $2,000 plus mark. The one I have now performs everything I would every want it to, the screen colours just are not that great for photo work.

Permi I like it ~ I tend to look with a creative eye not always on my own shots but when I see photos like this I think wow thats creative :) That flare in the bottom kind bugs me cause it draws my attention to it .But I love the composition and even the lighting is nice ~
