I'm all alone?? I'm kinda skeered. Not REALLY skeered, that I would admit, but that kinda skeered that makes you run up the basement stairs really quick, with that weird bumping in your chest.
Ya know, where you won't look behind you , and you can't shut the door quite quick enough.
And then you're really glad that no one was there to see that look on your face.

I've been working this shift for more than 20 years now. I think I'm used to it by this point, though I am getting just a little tired of it. I'd like to move to the day shift eventually, but not at the place I work now. It would have to be a completely new company.

I can't say I've had that happen. My kittehs did finally get brave enough today that both of them ventured far enough out of the bathroom to jump onto the bed with me today. Then, they decided I needed attention and started climbing all over me and rubbing against my face. I didn't get a whole lot of sleep today...

My brother had a friend who lived in a house whose backyard bordered Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale. They claimed their house was haunted and they had some kind of small, rodent-like ghost thing living in the basement. I never saw it, but my brother claims he did once.

All right. My wife was about 6 months pregnant with our son and would always be getting these wierd feeling at night like somone was watching her while she slept. Well one evening, she woke me up startled cause just 1 minute before that she was laying on her side facing the windows (closet towards the foot of the bed) and she opened her eyes...you know like that kind of wide open type when startled at night. Well right in front of her she saw this little boy dressed in white (like a baptismal outfit) which smiled at her and then turned and walked into the closet (doors closed)....thats when she woke me up. Some days later, someone told her it was our unborn son (we knew we were having a boy of course)....so fast forward 3 years later...one day my wife mentions that the little boy she say that night sorta looked like my son.

My hubby and I lived in a little old studio house when we first got married. it was a kitchen, livingroom and bathroom. We had a hide-a-bed in the livingroom, that doubled as the bedroom.
ANYWAY
we had a 'resident' ghost. He would hide stuff. My brush... no matter where I put it, in the morning it would be in the closet. On the top shelf.
Little things like that.
The closet was in the livingroom/bedroom. It had one of those pull-chain type lights.
We would be in bed, watching TV at night, and the closet light would come on. You could hear the click and everything.
One night, I got up and went into the bathroom (you had to walk all the way in, and pull the chain in the middle of the room to turn the light on) and there was a man standing in the corner of the bathroom. Staring at me.
We lived there for about a year.
I wasn't ever bothered by it until I actually saw him in the bathroom.
Then, I was like, ... I don't want to share my house anymore.

While living in the same house mentioned before....we lived with my wifes parents for the first year of my marriage. There were two master sized bedrooms upstairs next to each other and a long hallway with two additional bedrooms. I typically would stay up late watching television while my inlaws went to sleep early...about 8PM. So after awhile, I began seeing a tall dark figure walking in the hallway from my inlaws bedroom area. When I asked my wife if she had ever seen anything she would always tell me I was crazy. Well one evening...late...about 2am, I was in bed watching tv (again) with my wife and the door was open. Well the figure passed right by the door again and I did not say anything cause my wife was giving me beef about it. However she blurted out "did you see that? What was that?" I then told her that I was not crazy and of course she sent me to investigate. Inlaws were snug in bed...snoring... and the doors to the other two rooms were closed, alarm was on and lights were off. Don't know where the figure went, but after that time, I never saw it again and my wife and I moved out about 3 months later to our own home...with another ghostly enounter.

Okay last one...that has happened to me recently.
At my last house...which was about 16 years old...we ended up getting a dog. Well, the dog of course, since they can sense an unearthly presence, began to bark and growl to the wall which had no windows on it. This went on from day one of ownership and for about 3 or 4 weeks...daily until we found out why. Well one day, my wife and I were out talking to the neighbors on that same side of the house when we mentioned that our dog must be hearing them when they are outside 'cause she growls and barks at the wall. They tell us that they are never in the back yard because its difficult to be there. The female neighbor goes on by saying that dogs can sense ghosts and that she must see her son. My wife and I are just standing there shell shocked as she casually tells us that her son committed suicide in the backyard with a gun, nearest my house, where the dog barks and growls only 2 years before I moved in. Oh, gee thanks neighbor, now I can sleep. In the 3 years we lived there, the dog barked an growled at that wall often, but was not daily anymore after finding out what happened.

My wife's parents house has been in the family for 3 generations was haunted by her grandmother for a while. Both grandparents died in the house (different times) but things would move about for no reason. Not see them floating in the air type move, but things put down on the tables would be found somewhere else. This was solved when my mother in law walked about the house and said in a loud voice that they lived in the house now and the grandmother should stop and move on.

When I was young, I was very allergic to cats. I couldn't even visit my high school best friend at home because his family had three cats. My eyes and windpipe would swell shut within a couple minutes of walking in their house.
A few years after I graduated from high school, my brother got a cat. Several months later he had to move to a place where he couldn't take it with him, and without really thinking about it, I offered to take the cat. I've never had a problem with cats and allergies since then.

This is my first ever attempt at panoramas and I am not a happy bunny.
The only way I can see to really improve them is to go back and take the pictures again, and that is not possible. I have posted them in the T&L section looking for tips, but these are beyond help. What was a magnificent vista just looks flat in these.
It is something I would like to do more of so I guess it is down to the old method of practice, practice practice.
The first pano is from 19 separate exposures.

For a first attempt (or fifth, or hundredth), these are awesome! I can barely see any joins - maybe a fractionally different tone in the sky in one or two places but that is looking really hard - and I may be wrong anyway - it's not a marked enough difference to do more than say "yeah that's about the only place I can think one might be!" The stray bit of sensor slurm in the second is more noticeable than any hint of a join!
The haze has proved to be a killer - do you have a UV filter on the lens? and early morning tends to be clearer than later in the day when pollution levels rise
[oops - just checked the EXIF, 08:10 is early morning :o]
I see Pete has linked to a shot from Claire. Also, Scottes was the panorama king a little while back with his shots of Boston. I wonder if he's be able to shed any light on these fore you?

the only time I was ever frightened by an apparition was at my grandmother's house...it was at night. I was in my mid-20's. I woke up because I couldn't breathe (there was a nightlight ini the room) and I saw over me in the bed, a very dark mass...just hovering over the bed. I screamed quite loudly because even though I was awake, it was still there...both my grandparents woke and so did Dan (who was in the other twin bed in the room)...it dissipated but I've never forgotten that. The only person who'd ever passed away in the house was my great grandmother (who I hardly knew). It wasn't a dream...
My mother's family had a weird occurrence in the old house she grew up in though. They used to hear the front door open and someone enter the house and walk up the stairs. It happened often but no one was ever there. They sold the house when my mom was 11 or 12...it was torn down not long afterwards and a body of a sailor (still in it's uniform) was found under the floorboards in the attic. Also a true story....

It IS interesting. Most of the time it doesn't frighten me either.
My little sister babysat a little boy who could see a ghost in her house. He knew it's name, and talked to him. That got kinda freaky.
I thought the kid had an imaginary friend, but he would say things about the ghost that had happened at the house while the kid wasn't there. (did that make sense?)

Never afraid, just unsettled. Good way to describe it. Things would be moved, and we would just pick it up and put it back where it belonged.

It happened often but no one was ever there. They sold the house when my mom was 11 or 12...it was torn down not long afterwards and a body of a sailor (still in it's uniform) was found under the floorboards in the attic. Also a true story....
Reminds me of a story about my grandfather. He was a keen fisherman. One day, he was fishing in the river with his friend and snagged something heavy on his hook. He eventually dragged it up (beleiving it to be some weed or something). Then up drifted the naked body of a young woman. Naturally enough, his friend completely freaked, so my grandada told him to go off and call the police while he tied the unfortunate body up (by het long flowing blond hair) to his keepnet.
His friend was gone a while (well, they were a fair way from town). So what does my grandfather do? He carried on fishing. Pretty laid back, my grandfather.

A bit off track here (forgive me), I know some of you guys have a portable HD/Card reader thingy.
My old GigaOne is very slow at copying shots off. Are you pleased with the speed of yours. What have you got?
I have an Epson too, although an earlier one. Back then it was pretty trendy and new - I was thrilled to have ordered it and thrilled to get it and horrified by how long it takes to transfer images. Aside from that and how large the plug/transformer (darn British plug) are I have no compaints with it. I just carry a card to shoot on while the other is downloading. ;)

yeah, that's what we do...carry extra cards and shoot with those while the p4000 is downloading. The main things I hate about it are the time it takes to download...the fact that you can't zoom raw to view it & the fact that it changes your photo filenames to an epson filename rather than your camera filename.

The P-3000 is identical with a smaller HD and a smaller price.
It doesn't have a delete option. I wish it did.
It is fairly fast. (of course, I don't have anything to compare it to) It'll copy a full 2G card of RAW files in about 2-3 minutes.
The screen is awesome. I use it for clients all the time... finish shooting, slap the card into the Epson, and they can scroll through them. It will browse the CF card without copying it too.
It displays beautiful color even with the RAW files.
Sometimes scrolling through the shots there will be a lag, but not enough to worry about. It's fairly quick.

I forgot about the file name thing... That is annoying. To be honest, on my last 2 trips I didn't take mine with me. I think it is going to morph into a music/movie toy for the children. If I take my laptop I don't need it. I'd rather just have more cards for day trips.
Oh and if your file is too big - it won't display it as anything other than a thumbnail on the P2000). They may have fixed that on the newer models.

I dreamed about Matthew when I was pregnant with him, that is how we settled on his name.. There was a horse (it was mine and named Aurora) and a very old stone building and a Nun.
so you had a similar type dream.
 I am glad I read all this in morning's light rather than last night in the dark!
You're no fun...the night time is the best time....to get the chills.
Wade never saw him. Just me.
We moved shortly after that.
And I made Wade go in and turn the light on for me everytime.
Actually, I think we just left the light on in there. Always.
Oh sure...just like my wife...let the husband have the nightmares.
the only time I was ever frightened by an apparition was at my grandmother's house...it was at night.
It has this nice little thing called 'Site Advisor' which warns about spammy sights and how often there were emails sent after the tester signed up for the sight. So I did my own little test with an email address. That email address got in one week...1600+ emails in the bulk folder (yahoo account) and about 75 in the the Inbox.

Mike had a dream about Nathan when I was pregnant with him. In the dream, he and Matthew and Nathan were on a train in the UK (where we lived at the time) and some burly guy was giving the boys a hard time because they were wearing Man United shirts. Mike had to intervene! :)

It's probably not terribly interesting to other people. lol You know how it is.
First I was with a horse called Aurora in stables that belonged to me (they were quite posh!) on a rather large bit of land.
Then I was pushing a pram with my gorgeous baby boy named Matthew inside. We were touring an amazing old stone building with a group of other people (strangers) and a Nun was giving the tour.
Then Matthew (still in the pram) and I were alone with the Nun after the tour. We were in the ground level of a stone tower with sunset light coming through the paneless windows and she was telling me things.
You know how dreams are...
