intention is to offer hope to those that feel 1d mk2 is months away from initial order
placed order with jessops birmingham 4 weeks ago, told 187 on list and would be august before any chance
placed additional order with calmut, told over 200 before me
jessops rang me yesterday to say they have got one for me, come and get it
told my boss i had medical appointment and had to go (well i would of had a heart attack if they had sold it to someone else before the weekend)
no a proud owner of said camera (what a beast)
not posting this as a gloat but more that although you may fell it will be months before you get one, it might not

Well, no one has delivered mine yet. :(
Mind you, might help if I actually ordered one first. ;)
Cheers

:? :( :( :( :( :( :( ??? :~( :O
I am now writing the mother of all e-mails to Park Cameras (so called UK's leading Canon Dealership) to ask them how come I have been waiting since the 9th February and they still have not supplied, and Jessops (in bloody Birminghan WHERE I F***ING WORK (the city not Jessops)) can fullfill an order in 4 weeks.
Don't get me wrong I am really pleased for you man but I am still crying :(
But as my wife said... it is only a camera.

Just thought I would copy you in on the chain...
I fibbed about the name and address bit
Dear sir,
This is so getting beyond a joke now.
You are one of the leading Canon dealers in the UK, right. I know of someone (I can supply name and address if required) who placed an order with Jessops (yes Jessops) in Birmingham (West Midlands not Alabama) (I work in Birmingham and pass the shop nearly every day!) 4 weeks ago, that is 4 weeks no where near the 18 weeks that I have been waiting and he picked up his camera TODAY.
I am sure that you understand that this sort of information spreads and Canon are damaging both your business and reputation.

Subject: RE: EOS 1D MkII order
Dear Neil,
I realize how frustrating this must be. We know Canon Japan has supplied America with a large number of 1D mark 2, compared with the UK delivery of around 200 cameras in the first batch. Canon UK is expecting another delivery of cameras at the end of June, but they themselves don’t know what the stock levels will be. We have spoken to Canon Japan regarding the stock levels of America compared to England with no valuable response. You are quite high on the list, but until the cameras come in we cannot guarantee any sort of delivery date.
I will keep your deposit in the file and if you have any queries please contact me.
Regards,
Dan

I have been advised by my Canon Pro dealer that October/November is about the time they can supply mine. They have also written and complained to Canon as the evidence shows that the bulk of the output of the MK-II's is going to the US, leaving Europe pretty bare.
One local photog walked into a Jessops not 10 miles from me, asked if they had any MK-II's, was told two had just arrived and walked out with both! My local Jessops have a total of two people on their waiting list (one of which is me as a standby to my main supplier) and they have no idea if they will see any MK-II's in the next 3 or 4 months. How some Jessops stores can sell off the shelf and others not meet orders from people who have been on a waiting list for 4 months beggars belief.

Also not gloating - but as said - I got mine within 6 DAYS due to a cancellation at JESSOPS in Reading.
I have used almost all of the 200,000 estimated shutter clicks before repair demo'ing the Uzi setting! Yeee Harrr. (JOKE!)
How much did you pay in JESSOPS Brum?
Today.....

I don't know what Jessops are playing at, but they certainly aren't fulfilling orders in any sort of order - it seems to be entirely random whether a branch gets one or not, and then they seem to randomly pick a customer from their individual list. I've been waiting over 6 weeks for example.
Their head office won't talk to mere mortals and pass you onto 'sales' who simply parrot the standard 'we have -300 in stock' when in actual fact it appears that in any one week there's at least a couple sat on a shelf... somewhere. Finding the somewhere, though, isn't possible without ringing every single branch up one by one.

I am not at all surprised. Jessops are very much on my Blacklist as far as anything goes after a previous fiasco.

when picking up the camera at jessops brum i saw the manager (sexy woman) who told me she had for the last couple of week been faxing and phoning all jessops stores who had a stock showing of mk2's to send it to her if not sold in 2 days
it might be that the persistance of the store manager has a big factor, tell you guys i could marry that woman and have her babies (if possible) for getting me this camera (do you think i should ask her out on a date hoping she brings a 100-400L as a gift ?)

If it is really all getting too much for you guys, why not hop on the next 'plane to Tokyo - Yodobashi have them stacked up on the shelves for £2850. The difference will just about pay the airfair and you could have one tomorrow! Not in the same league, but I just got my *black* 300D (OK, KissDigital...) and a funny plastic 18-55 mm *USM* lens there for under £700, and the guy even scrabbled around and found me an English instuction manual......

One answer why we won't buy a big investment like the MK-II from places other than the UK - Warranty, pure and simple. Canon UK will not honour the warranty even if it says international, they only cover UK warranties. Even my CPS card won't help.

I can back Keny on this one - had a conversation regarding warranties yesterday and had it confirmed that for equipment bought outside the UK Canon UK will honour lens warranties but NOT camera warranties. I could have a 1DMk2 brought in from the US for just over £3K but with no warranty I'm not that desperate.
