First of all, I know there are a lot of posts on this subject, but I'm a little too lazy to search for exactly what I need. I am flying from Nashville, TN to Tampa, Fl on vacation September 1. The gear I will most likely travel with me will be as listed below. I need some serious suggestions as to what carry-on bag to purchase. My honest budget is $200 or less. I'm flying Southwest airlines and their carry-on dimensions are 10x16x24 inches. Here's my gear I hope to bring along:

EOS Rebel XTi + grip
18-55 kit lens
50mm f/1.8 II
70-200 f/4L IS w/hood - rented from lensrentals.com (plug, plug :D)
large rocket blower
AA battery insert for grip
6 AA batteries
AA battery charger
Canon battery charger
Canon PowerShot S1IS
Sony TRV-260 Camcorder
Sony power cord
4 digital 8mm tapes

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

how many bags are you devoting as carry-on? it makes a huge difference if you plan on devoting 2 bags to camera gear versus one.

also how do you plan on using it? a single bag to carry laptop + camera is great, but those kind of bags don't make good shooting bags. so lots of folks will have separate bags for their laptop and then one for the photo gear that's meant to be a shooting bag and not necc. a carry-gear around bag.

I'm flying Southwest airlines and assumed I could only have one carry-on.Your questions prompted me to look at the details on the Southwest website. I can have one carry-on bag plus another "personal type" piece which can be a laptop in a case. After reading that I will scratch the laptop from the list as I already have it in its own case. I will edit my post and we'll go from there. I think I will add my Sony TRV-260 camcorder to the line-up now.

The airline limits the carry-on dimensions to 10x16x24 inches.

I took my Domke F-1x and F-3x on Southwest recently with no problems.
