1) Can I mount my own pictures? I went to Rag Shop and got paper cement and glued one to an all-purpose type board. How is it done by the professionals and what type of board and glue do they use?

2) I have been using www.printroom.com for my printing needs. They do not offer picture mounting services. Are there any others out there with more printing options/services available with a better quality paper that they print on?

Thanks in advance for any information.

A lot of large commercial prints, when not of the artwork variety, are adhered to foamboard. Typically a spray adhesive, such as that by 3M is sprayed onto the board and then the print is applied. Sometimes a roller is used to remove air bubbles and press the print into the adhesive.

There is also an adhesive foam board with the adhesive already applied.

Take a look at the following and select the Exhibit, Mounting and Mat Boards choice in the left menu.

Exactly what Dale just stated!

I print my own large prints, and then attach them to a matte, then use spray adhesive to attach that to a pre-cut foamboard. Then I press it with a large sheet of wood with a heavy weight on it until the adhesive is dry.

Customers like it.
