.... it's no friggin life at all I can tell all of you who wonders :( Been one week since I sold my computer to afford a new laptop. Two days ago the new machine left the factory in Irland, and I'm starting to see the light in the end of the tunnel.. And hopefully it's not a train either :P
This have been the most boring week I've ever experienced. Wen't to shoot a dragrace the other day, and that took an entire day, so at least I got to stab some time to death. Think I got some nice shots too, but how can I know? I don't have any darn computer to tell me ;) My new system hopefully get delivered tomorrow or the day after. Or if extremely lucky (which I don't tend to be) later today.. The wait for this is far worse than my wait for the 10D was :( Thank God it's the European Championship in soccer going on now.. But I'm not _that_ interested in soccer either, so it's only a small patch on the big wound.. :(
And just for the information, I'm posting this from a lend ultraportable laptop, which for the first is deadslow, way to slow for any image-manipulation (and the screen is to poor for it anyway), and since it's lend, I dont want to install all kind of software on it either, so no programming to kill the time..

That is why I have 5 PCs, 1 Pocket PC with WiFi 8) , and 1 old Palm. One of the PCs is a laptop so I will have a computer if the power goes out.

Yeah, only 5 PCs must be a drag. It could be worse though - you might not have any Sun boxes or firewalls either. Or books.

I take that back. One is an Apple IIGS so it is not a pc. Then there is a 98, 2 XPs, and a Mandrake Linux 8.1.
Oh and it does get rough. I forgot to add my Router and Wireless and Network HD. Canon Scanner and Digital Camera.

VVizard,
You are such a melodramatic person :D
You need to get out there and enjoy yourself before you have to go in for your year of service. Make some memories with some friends. I am sure you have those, right?

I love the classic geek equipment list, it gets alittle out of hand though. I once listed everything electronic that I owned in a signature to poke fun at a geek friend; I included every spec I could find about each.
Personally I have one windows box which is more then adequate for my needs at home. I have been a unix programmer for a long time and have usually always relied on a minumum of two machines; windows dev, unix dev, my own personal mail server, etc.
For those of you that have a mac, linux box and windows box I suggest you sell them all and go get yourself a powerbook. You have a mac, which supports the 'good' windows apps and is built on a unix platform. All three in one.

Ok boys and girls, it have arrived. At last!! No I just need to get a proper OS on it, and I'll be in business :) Oh yeah.. And enjoying life.. I have done that too. By getting hammered virtually every night ;) I'm on the brink of getting a new girlfriend too I think. At least hope :) So, living without a computer can be quite nice too ;)

Believe me, if I could afford a big bad Mac I'd be getting one... Ever since that new OS came out I've been drooling...
I wouldn't, however, throw out my Windows or Linux boxes. :)

Well it's good to see you back.
One hint: don't turn on the computer until the girlfriend situation is known one way or another....

Ok, the "gf-thing" is dead already :P I'm moving 2000 kilometers north, and she almost as long south (another country) to study.. But heck, **** happens..
New laptop rocks by the way =D Theese Pentium-M CPU's sure can keep up the pace good :) Got the 1.7GHz version which uses the new Dothan-core. 2MB of wonderfull L2-cache man :)
The 1920x1200 16:10 screen sure is nice too :)
And to top it off, I've been stresstesting the battery now. Surfing the web (wlan), compiling _LOTS_ of **** for my newly installed os, ripping/encoding cd's, and listening to music.. All with the big screen fully backlit. It's nearing the end now, but I think it have lasted this stresstest nearly 3 hours now. So looks good :)
Trying to get ndiswrapper to let me used the integrated Intel-wifi card now, instead of a loaned pcmcia-variant. Cant wait for the native linux-driver for this card (it's in the works).. Working a lot the next days though, so don't have as much time to "play" as I really want :) But see you guys soon :)
