I take a lot of photos of these guys as my brother is the drummer, but this is the first opportunity i've had to use my 30d (used to have 300d) to take pics of them. They were taken either with a canon 85 1.8 @ 1.8 or 50 1.4 @ 1.4. The noise on the 30d is so much better than 300d, and the AF is faster and more accurate too. The band were pretty happy with these, but prefer all the shots in black and white. I like the colour of some of them so thought i'd upload those as well.

did you use your 85 1.8? and what settings did you use? i would love to get into concert photography a little more, but have no idea how to go about it. and yes i have read the other threads, i just like to hear everyones techniques.

B&W works better here, because of the *very* high contrast in the color images...
Looks like tough lighting.

Yes i did use the 85 1.8 for some of the shots, the exif is intact if you want to have a look at it.
The lighting was quite difficult, as with iso 1600 some images the meter had read 1/40 and didn't give sharp images, whereas here you can see some of the shutter speeds are 1/200 or faster!
Thanks for the comments guys!
