This time I actually was trying to be "artistic". I liked the shape of the windows in the foreground, but there was nothing to them. I overexposed it, till I got the reflection of the building across the street, then postprocessed some color back into the foreground building. I really like how it turned, because, unlike the "Postcard Shot" of the temple, I think that this shows a tiny bit of originality. As always, please comment.

Its interesting..........

but nothing about the photo interest me.

maybe the shapes and reflections.........but thats about it.

.......hmmmm.........maybe if there was a refelction of a person in one of those verandas.........it would've added a little something to this photo.

I have to agree with roanjohn, it's nice, but it doesn't grab me. The colors don't stand out, it's all pretty neutral.

HMMM...

I am a little disappointed that it doesn't do much. Shoot, I really like it. But I do see the point that there is not much to it. I would like to process it even more, give it a bluish tint - think "Minority Report" and you will get the idea.

The Question for the Photoshoppers is this. Is there an easy way to simulate the shimmer you get from heat. None of the filters in PSCS seem to be it. Ocean ripple comes closest, but it lacks the horizontal nature of true heat ripples. So if you know of a technique, tutorial, or a free/cheap filter or plug-in, please let me know.

Thanks,

Rad

Radtech1 -
How are you planning on applying this effect? Just to the windows to ad a little distortion? Just wondering...

I think the best way to go about creating the effect would be using the distort>displace filter...with a custom displacement map....if you don't know much about PS, then this is probably tough area to get into and understand...if you can semi tell me/show me what you are trying to do, I might be able to help you out a little more!

But I think if the ocean ripple or other effects arn't working the way you would like, then a displacemnt map is probably the way to go.

have you tried the DISTORT>RIPPLE filter? copy 2 layers and lower the opacity of each to 10% and 15%, then apply the RIPPLE filter to them, is that the effect you are looking for?
