Get a wide angled shot of the contrails without the trees, maybe?

depends on what you're trying to acheive.

If you want to isolate the contrails, then lose the trees.

If you want to show the sunset / sunrise colours, then use clouds for a more dramatic effect and silhouette some trees in the foreground.

if you describe more specifcally what you want from a shot like this you might get more helpfull advice :)
