Do you use ND Grad filters for landscape photography? I have an EOS 10D. Which filters works the best with it. Can you show some exmples of shots you took with this filter or a combination of more than one.

Thanks!

Just last weekend I was shooting sunsets high in Yosemite National Park. I had horizon to horizon views for 360 degrees. For many shots, I used a polarizer, but it wasn't doing much since the view angle was too close to the sun. Polarizers do more at 90 degrees away from the sun. I used a 2-stop graduated ND filter to hold back the bright sky. I also used the same thing, but in a blue. Then I used both together. The trick is getting the transition line of the filter into the perfect place to match with the horizon.

As it turned out, the best shots happened after sundown. Then, the sky still has a lot of color, but not much light. You just stretch out the exposure time longer and longer, and the low light is dealt with. The camera metering starts to complain a lot, but that is part of the game.
