Actually, Best Wide Angle and any other speciality lens you might recommend for a beginner.

Thanks in advance,

How wide ? There is Sigma 12-24 which becomes 19-38 on x1.6 crop body. There is Canon 17-40 f/4L, the 16-35 f/2.8 (VERY expensive), the 14mm f/2.8 primes from Canon, Sigma and Tamron ... There also are fish-eye lenses - it's all is the question of what you want and how much you are ready to pay for it 8)

Thanks for the quick replies:

I primarily shoot daytime landscape shots and honestly was probably looking in the $300-$400 range. Not exactly sure how to correct the fish eye lens so would probably avoid that to start.

Also, I've actually just ordered with the unit with the kit lens so I haven't had a chance to experiment with it as of yet. Might be fine - I just assumed I would have to invest in something for the wider angle.

Thanks again,

Billy

There is a Canon 20-35mm f3.5-4.5 lens that sells for about $350.

Actually, I know one Canon user who buys lenses with an unusual requirement. His best lens takes a 77mm filter, so he only buys other lenses that can take 77mm also. He has a whole set of step-up and step-down rings to convert anything to anything.

Hmmm. I tend to leave a filter on a lens during transport, so I have a minimum set of filters of each size for each lens.

Best I have seen so far (which is why I bought it) is the Sigma 12-24. I was all set to buy the Canon 17-40L until I tried out the Sigma.

The 20-35 isn't wide at all on x1.6 crop body, it goes only to 32mm on its widest end. Right now I'm looking into Tokina 17mm f/3.5 ATX Pro (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=35176) which gives 27mm on 10D/300D - it sure looks like one nice lens.

Anything that goes wider than 50mm is considered wide angle. However, an effective 32mm is not extremely wide angle, I will agree.
