these certainly aren't the quality that some of you sports shooters do, but this is what I got from last night. Even at 7 P.M. (game time) I was already at 800 ISO while trying to keep 1/1250 shutter. By 8:00 I was at ISO 1600 and at low lower limits of 1/1000. (shooting at 2.8 all night on the 70-200 IS)
I REALLY need to consider a 1D MKIII upgrade from this XTi. anyway here is what I got.

And not much action here, but what's a "Giants Thread" without BB.

yes 15 rows up actually. Fighting all night to try to shoot around people standing up and walking up and down the aisles (vendors more than anything)

Nothing wrong with your Xti, you just need one of them BIG white lenses (see below)
and some noise ninja, and you're good to go;)

yes did use noise reduction on these. Tried to find a good balance between no noise and keeping detail.

These were shot in either M or TV with the XTi. The 2.8 is VASTLY superior than the F4 for nighttime shooting anyay. I've tried my 100-400 at night (same ballpark) and it just isn't fast enough.

I for sure need one of them lenses..lol The noise reduction I'm not a fan of though just because it has lost so much detail in the uniform.
the XTi does work for sports I guess, just not the ideal camera. I'd love to have very usable 3200 ISO not to mention 10 FPS. My "ball on bat" picture ratio would be higher that's for sure.

Those are pretty good shots. Man Barry is getting close. I was amazed to go into work (5:30am) and as I walked by the paper stand see that he had hit two in one game. i thought wow his slump is kinda over.

yeah the noise reduction is a little overboard here IMO. some grain isnt really a big problem, whereas the uniforms definitely look pretty flat and soft.
