I took a few snaps this afternoon of the neighbor's grandson while working in the yard. Processing the files this evening I get about 3/4 of the pics showing the color cast on the left side of the child's face you can see in the sample below. Details:

Camera and lens: 1D and 85/1.8
AV mode: f2.8, 1/2000
Ambient only (at my back)
RAW capture converted in DPP (set WB to shade and minor curve adj)
PS adj: slight contrast & saturation, then USM

Never have seen this problem before. Anyone know what's going on here? Is this a mixed color temp problem (reflected light from lawn camera right)?

Yes, that appears to be light reflected from lawn or tree foliage. This happens frequently if the green leaves or grass has the sun hitting it. It's not easy to remove, but warming up the whole image a little can help. I've had this happen in studio shots with green shirt or jacket reflecting under the subjects chin.

I agree with Chigger. I added a little red to the midtones in Curves, and it helped.

Further to that, you could select that colour using Color Range (in the Select menu), and add a very slight violet or magenta Photo Filter to it.

damo and chigger, thanks for the suggestions - that makes sense. i'll do some correcting tomorrow morning. looking at the pics that didn't have the cast, i see the child's mother's shoulder had "gobo'd" the lawn reflection.
