What would be the 'normal' range for ISO for an outdoor photo? Maybe be in a sunny area, might be in shady areas too.
What about indoors, dim lighting?
Do you find it takes too much time to change the ISO between shots and how do you know what to set it too? I won't have a lot of time between shots to mess around.
I was going to just shoot in Auto but that would save RAW, only the manual options have RAW as a choice......
Sorry, I should do more research, but thought someone could point me in the right direction
Thanks

I use between 100-400 in the day, then 400-800 indoors. I'll go above 800 if I'm desperate for light...

For daylight outside, iso 100 or 200 is best. Not sure which camera you have, but you should be able to bring up your iso menu with a touch of a button. On the XT, if you hit the up arrow button on the right side of the back of your camera, it will automatically bring up your iso menu. Check your camera's manual. For dim light shooting, iso 800/1600 (3200 if you got it). If you shoot at iso 1600/3200, there'll be noise in your shot. Noise Ninja will help eliminate that. Try to stay away from Auto settings. Start with either Av or Tv until you get the hang of setting your manual settings. That worked for me. There is a WEALTH of knowledge here. Read the posts around here and you'll learn a ton. I already have.

thanks!
I have the XTI and after I posted that I was fiddling with it, lol, and found the single touch button that brings up the ISO :) goes up to 1600, but I will try not to go above 800 if I don't have to.
Would the P mode be more fool proof for me (camera is still fairly new to me) or is it better to be in Tv, Av?
