White moth mystery

Hi everyone

I spotted a brilliant white moth laying eggs on the forest floor this morning. No matter how many times i tried my s500 refused to get a sharp focus on it. Is there something i should know, instinct tells me its something to do with the brilliant whiteness of the moth. Is it possible to overcome this?

Ideas and questions:
(1) What is the minimum focus distance for your lens, versus what was the subject distance?
(2) Did you try autofocus and manual focus?
(3) Was there enough light for easy focus function?
(4) Was the white moth moving?

Otherwise, I'll bet they are good to eat. Use a little olive oil and garlic.

Minimum focus distance in macro is 2.0in and i tried in both manual and auto. However i was shooting on the forest floor early, cloudy morning under spruce trees. At times the moth flutered its wings, i tried to shoot when it was still.

You aren't allowed to use that term for anything trivial. You can only use it for something totally repulsive. I just try to live up to the name.

Actually, moths are kind of hard to eat. Their wings get caught in your throat without the olive oil.
