I have poison Ivy from my elbo to my knuckles on my right arm. And almost the same with my left arm. My eye is now getting partly itchy. My dad is going to be pissed. It's like I purposely touched the plant jsut to make him pissed. I didn't even touch it that I know of. I can't help it if the lady has posion all over the lawn. I love posion ivy, I love the itching, the swelling, the great looks of the skin, and the dangers of itchign too much....ehh.. no! My dad is the one who wanted me to cut grass and make my own money. Okay, I don't mind, but don't get mad at me if I get this stuff. This is the second time for the past 5-6 years. But it's my fault for getting posion ivy (qoute). He's going to be pissed. I've been reading up on this poison ivy. The majority of the sites say if it gets near the eye or worsens, call the doctor. My dad will be pissed. I only go to the doctor when I need-need it, and I always admit it when I do. Last time I needed to go the doctor I had a flu and ear infection, nothing like getting chills in 85F weather. And I responsiblily read up on it, and told my dad. And my dad was kinda mad about me going before that. But once he found out that I wasn't bull ****ting he was happy I went. Durr. Its as if I purposely like spending his money and love seeing the doctor....Though there is a hot nurse there. I was almost put in the hospital a few days ago becasue of him. He tried getting a old garage opener down at my grandmas. I had to hold the flash light in a certain angle, which was evidently right below the opener (the center rail). A voice in my head said "Paul, you better move to the other side of you dad". I went "Okay", 20 seconds later the garage opener fell at some 35 mph where I was standing. Bla. So this past week I've been happy on account of the guardian angle incident. I can jsut imagine being knocked out. scary. I played some pretty damn good blues last night though!. I have a shoot next month hopefull it'll be all clear?. My eye is gettign worse as I get worried abotu telling him, I hate living with him. Living on my own I could just call, you know? and not be afraid of asking. It's as simple as asking "Hi, my name is such and such, I've had a posion ivy rash for the past few days. I tried putting cream on it to conrtrol it but has failed. The posion ivy has grown to closer perameters to my eye, can I get a appointment or what do you reccomend?". Bla, there, hard....too hard.He cares more for the dog than he does about me. I thinK i might go live with my mom.

First let me say I am not a doctor!

I recommend picking up some liquid benadryl the kind you take internally, and applying it directly to the rash. This will ease some of the itching also you should take the recommended dose by mouth. If you g to the doctor you will get a shot of steroids, and a prescription for oral (pill) steroids and advised to take benadryl as well.

I have two kids that seem to find every poison ivy plant they can find and the benadryl thing works for them.

I've been there with the Poison Ivy issues. IT SUCKS!! I was really covered several years ago and it was BAD!

Cortizon steroid cream on the sites and benadryl orally. Get the most anti-hystamin possible and keep with-in suggested dosages.

if this is getting into an eye, see a doctor NOW. This can cause permanent damage. Don't care how made someone gets, eyesight is much more important! yelling and bad temper will pass, well for this anyways.

By the way, with all the steroids and anti-hystamin in your body, stay out of the sun. You'll burn like a sausage on a hot grill!!

If you are not responding to over the counter remedies, and the eye is really involved: See a doctor. Local emergency or clinic or what ever, get professional help!

Take care of yourself.

OK, I didn't want to post this, but this old song by The Coasters (1959) comes to mind.....

She comes on like a rose but everybody knows
She'll get you in Dutch
You can look but you better not touch

Poison iv-y-y-y-y, poison iv-y-y-y-y
Late at night while you're sleepin' poison ivy comes a'creepin'
Arou-ou-ou-ou-ou-ound

She's pretty as a daisy but look out man she's crazy
She'll really do you in
If you let her under your skin

Poison iv-y-y-y-y, poison iv-y-y-y-y
Late at night while you're sleepin' poison ivy comes a'creepin'
Arou-ou-ou-ou-ou-ound

Measles make you bumpy
And mumps'll make you lumpy
And chicken pox'll make you jump and twitch
A common cold'll fool ya
And whooping cough can cool ya
But poison ivy, Lord'll make you itch!!

You're gonna need an ocean of calamine lotion
You'll be scratchin' like a hound
The minute you start to mess around

Poison iv-y-y-y-y, poison iv-y-y-y-y
Late at night while you're sleepin' poison ivy comes a'creepin'
Arou-ou-ou-ou-ou-ound

More seriously, I've had poison ivy before, and it is NOT any fun. I ended up at the emergency room getting a cortozone shot to ease the itching and pain. My leg swelled up so much that getting up to walk really hurt.

psshh... I used what anti- itching cream was left. My dad got pissed becasue it was like $90.00... i replied "It's uesless if you don't use it". He said "Its strogn stuff". It's not strong when you apply it 4 or 5 times a day. On it says 2 times a day. It's old, it's about 2 years old. I accidently scrapped my against the sharp edge of the fish tank in my room. I started to bleed where the posion ivy is on my arm. We all know what happends if you bleed and have posion ivy. I rushed down stairs to get soap and a rag and try to clean the cut blood.I told my dad I need to see a doctor. He says "sure, Use the your savings and we'll go". I have $20.00. Wtf... Im sick of it. Thats ok though, I'll wait until halloween and put flower all over his car.

Try Aveeno cream and they even have a bath treatment. My wife had it last month and I was really, really pissed at her for getting it. JK.:D Anyways, she did go to the doc and got the shot and cream but said that the aveeno cream soothed it the most.

man I think you and your dad has some serious issues.

time to move out me thinks.

as for helping with that poison ivy thing, sorry we don't even have it in NZ. perhaps swim in the sea, I hear that salt water helps a lot of things?

Just don't take a photo we really don't need to see it :)

I had Poison Ivy when I was pregnant and couldn't take any medication for it - the one thing that worked was an oatmeal bath... get a packet of atmeal and pour it into a bath with water and sit in it as long as you can... it really help relieve the itching.
If it is near your eyes - go see a doctor.
Are you at shcool? Maybe you should think about getting a part time job to earn some money of your own..

Despite it being in text, I can still hear the teenage sporatic speech. I almost forgot what it was like, all the family members and friends are out of that stage, this just reminded me of that time.

First off calm down Itchy McScratchington, you will live, we have the technology.
Go to the doctor, if your dad is going to be that upset that he has to get you medical attention, then some man to man-ish talk needs to be happening soon thereafter.
