Hi all

I bought a 17-40 for group shots and wondered how it would do in sports.

I had an idea of a shot I would like, backlit cyclist, with fill in flash to illuminate face.

Here's my effort, I was sat on the pavement a couple of feet away.

I used a high shutter speed 1/640 @ f/5 because the cyclist was passing very close. Next time I will try a slower speed to get a bit more movement and maybe a UV filter (filter purchase soon) to bring out clouds etc.

I think I'll have plenty of fun with this lens for sport!!

Cheers

I think you mean a polarising filter... UV will do nothing to bring out the clouds, it might only introduce flare ;)

Nice image, a bit less exposure for the ambient, and it's technically perfect. I agree a bit more motion would have been nice.

Hi Rene

Yes you are right, I do mean polarising filter.

Thanks for the comments

I'm not sure a polarizer will work when the lens is pointed almost directly against the sun.
