I'm posting this here in the hopes that one of our D30 users can help me. Right now I'm extremely frustrated. Basically, when I try to open a jpg that I saved, that was created on the D30, it crashes Photoshop. And if I open Widows Explorer it crashes that too when I click on view that directory. What's wrong?

What i do is download the D30 images to a folder in the zoombrowser directory, in the original camera's filename. For example, 100-263.jpg Then, I open that in Photoshop and that usually works ok. I make my adjustments, crop, USM, etc etc and now save as D-AIBH.jpg (for example, extra points for you if you know what that means :)) and I save that in a totally different directory/folder so the original remains.

Now, wierd things keep happening. Sometimes I get a crash, with no error, sometimes I get a message "unknown software exception memory referenced cannot be written" and crash, and sometimes, photoshop just closes down with no warning!!! And it is ONLY these images that were created with the D30. BUT, zoombrowser does not crash. I do not have zoombrowser open. After i download, I close it.

Does the D30 put extra "stuff" in the jpg that causes software crashes? I notice that under file info it has all the camera info about the pic - but all digital cams do that!

I should mention that I have 256mb RAM, 90% allocated to PS when its open; and no other apps running when i am working with photos. Camera off and disconnected.

Hopefully someone can help......

Hello

I can post You, on my web, JPG from D30 to test with but...

I guess that some of Your memory chip is bad, so reduce Your memory to eg 128MB, try, swap to the other 128MB and try.

have you checked the web for updates for ps? not nessisarly a full version number, but sometime some new thing comes along and does wierd things to a program and they have to release a maintance release. check that first. It may be that there is a corrupted file somewhere and you might need to unistall ps and re-install it. kinda sucks, but that's the state of the art with computers these days.
