i sure do like those, especially the last one. As a newbie to IR (you saw my first IR pic today, thanks for the comment), would be so kind as to describe the steps you took to get the effect of the blue coming through in the lighthouse picture please? I like that effect a lot.

Cheers!

Shadow. :)

Who did your conversion, and on what camera?

I just bought a used D-Rebel (the 300) for the purpose of converting and I am wondering where the best service is?

Lifepixel converted my 10D. Can't go wrong with those guys.

Thank you :)

the last one is really nice.
Funny, I wasn't going to include this one, I only posted it for the benefit of those that were also on the trip .. glad you liked it!

See,. good thing I put that pic in!

The trick has to do with getting the correct WB in camera using a custom WB, then the resulting images look a lot like the 1st and 5th images right out of the camera.
I Shoot RAW and covert to Tiff (8 bit) and then in PS I use levels, and hue saturation.
To get the colorful effects as seen in image 2 and others, I use the channel mixer and often just "auto color"

I'm using a converted D60.
The Guy who did this camera (Roger Salmon, used to be a regular at FM forum) is no longer doing these conversions (at least he did stop some time ago)
As mentioned by Grim, now you can use Lifepixel, or another one I recall is "Maxmax"
The sensors on the D60 and 300D are very similar, so I would imagine the results would be similar as well.
Unfortunately I hove no further info, like which IR filter glass was used, but I do recall Roger got the filter glass from somewhere other than for instance cutting up an R-72.. I think it was telescopic supplies,. coming in rectangular sheets.

I would like to agree with the others that the Lighthouse picture is very good.
I like it very much.

The original post was 4 years ago. People change servers, hosting companies go belly up, and people even pull very old pictures down from a host to make room for new pictures on other threads. This and a million other things can happen over the course of 4 years.

When you stumble on to an old thread, like you did here, check when the lion's share of posts were made. If it was a year or more ago, then "missing" pics are pretty common.

I it a shame, but it is reality. Particularly on this one too, as they were nice shots.

Alas, in this case my host server has closed it's doors forever.

It will take me a very long time to try and sort this out.
My share threads are only half the concern,. but any example pics I posted etc. also all gone....

.......and oh I will miss the web hits that took me a decade to rack up :(
