Cotton Thing

I took this the other day while sitting on a bench and I noticed these small flower-like things just laying there. I took a picture of one, but I don't know what to make of it. Forgive me if it's that bad, but I'm new to photography and learning as much as I can. :)

I think it has potential, but don't know what I'd do with it at the moment. Do you have one with the flower a bit more to the left & lower?

I like the colors, I like the diagonal lines, I ESPECIALLY like the fact that this is your first post and you did not bombard us with 35 images for critique. Welcome!

But for some reason, this shot doesn't quite do it for me. Not sure why, but what I want to commend you on was the fact that you took the shot!
Welcome to photography and if I can give one word of advice, (which you seem to allready know) that would be SHOOT EVERYTHING!!!! You never know where the next great shot is hidden.

My favorite phtographer, Ray Atkeson, http://www.skiinghistory.org/kruck1.html was once asked what is the secret to being a great photographer, he answered, "Only show 10% of your photographs."

As far as your picture goes, get closer, get a sharper, more colorfull picture, and you're ready to frame it and hang it on your wall.

I like the idea though.
