View Full Version : Ixus 70 or SD1000...depending on where you buy

I've purchased an Ixus 70 for a p&s for around home with our new baby boy.

I'm finding that as soon as any zoom is used the camera shake symbol appears when you focus, it seems to happen all the time, daylight or night. I've tried to alter settings to see if there are any changes. I on't feel that there is a fault, but maybe there is.

It is taking good pictures but I feel a bit let down by the camera.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to deal with this?:)

Most camera can suffer with the inevitable shake, especially when zooming and especially if don't have the most steady hands (like me) ...unless you have Image Stabilisation which a lot of the Powershot series have. I have an A710is which does pretty well helping me in those situations...but even then in low light the shake symbol can appear!

I would try and avoid asooting in low light situations (may be a little difficult as you appear to use it a lot indoors). Otherwise, place it on a secure surface or better still a tripod to minimise the shake!

Maybe someone else who is more experienced in photography could advise you further.

I find the shake symbol does seem to come up a little more often than previous p&s cameras I've owned, but most of the time the picture comes up alright anyway. If you're shooting in low light without a flash, you can try enabling the feature that allows you to bump up the ISO with a touch of the shortcut button.
