Is the Sandisk extreme CF III card compatible with my Rebel XT? The manual only indicated CF type I, II.

I'm sure it is. My manual was "current as of January 2005". The III came out after that, IIRC.

yep
the type I or II bit is the type and physical size of the card
type 1 is a normal flash memory based CF card and is 3.3mm thick
type 2 is 5mm thick and is used by microdrives and some other devices like bluetooth, gps, ethernet adapters etc

the sandisk extremeIII that you are looking at will fit and work in your Rebel XT as it is a type one CF card

Sandisk label their better cards as either Ultra II, Extreme III or Extreme IV
the card read/write speeds go up (along with the price) with U2 being cheapest and E4 being the newest and fastest

hope this helps

and is that a green night-ops gladius in your avatar ?

thanks for your information. Yep. that's the green night ops Gladius. I have the gladius flashlight. hehehe. It is coolest flashlight ever. It produce 80 lumens of pure white LED. There is no blueish color in the light. It has 3 features: flash tactical mode, constant mode, and gradual reduce mode.
