Cloudy and overcast are perfect for white birds. You really did very well here Gary. The composition and exposure makes this one a beauty.

Beautiful shot of a very beautiful bird, and yes the clouds have helped the exposure, spot on considering the whites on that bird.

Perfect detail in the whites Gary.....let me know when you start giving guided birding tours through northern Alabama :) Actually if you do the POTN birding gang will probably all be there!

It is always a challenge with White egret, your expose can change +/- 1 just from opening wings

As you already know You can find good spots but no one can guarantee Weather and Birds.

Absolutely!!!! With any long lens a good Tripod is essential with a Wimberley gimbal head for In-Flight. I can shoot a 300/4 Hand held but they don't give metals for Heros, I shoot it with a tripod also.
