Hello everyone,
I happen to stumble on some Picture CD's that I had burned last year while using a Film Camera. I also found a CD that I burned when I first got my 100-400 lens. WOW, how much have I improved (of course I am grading myself) from both the Film days and my first days with the 100-400L. I am wondering, has anyone done the same, but not by accident. How many of you have gong back to look at your Film Day pictures and your first shots with the 300D and your best lens you have for your camera? How many see a HUGE improvement?

I want to thank everyone here, and another forum, for all the advise, help, tips and samples of your work. With out all of you, I would still be HORRIBLE at taking pictures. Now I am just bad, but improving (oh, I am killing myself laughing)

Thank you All

I havnt so much done that, the big thing i notice is what i consider a keeper now vs what i considered a keeper then. Thats where the differences are.

You took the words right out of my keyboard.
I look at some of my old S30 and G3 shots to find pictures I would not keep now.
I like to think I've learned a lot abut lighting, composition, colour, in addition to honing my photoshop skills.

When I took film pic's,(and that was few) it cost so much I kept most pic's I took. Now that I can afford to do over and over (sometimes) I keep less and less. I guess I am just getting picky about what I keep :D I KNOW I have improved with the help from this forum, Wow! I now not only grade myself against myself,, I judge my pics against folks here and there are many Pro's here :D Who knows one day I may learn how to do photography :?

True. But I take a lot more "risky" shots now than I did with film. This is usually a good thing. However, with film, a greater percentage of my shots were good, because I was less likely to pull the trigger if I wasn't certain it was a good shot.

Well, I don't know if the improvement is HUGE or not .....

I've taken game photos of our high school lacrosse teams for the last 4 or 5 years now, and have archived every shot I've ever taken. Recently, in creating some collages for the graduating seniors, I had to go back through some of those "old" shots.

Oh...My...God ....

Thankfully, I can laugh at most of those "old" shots now ....

But, yea, there has been improvement .... and it's an improvment even other people see ....
