I just purchased a Canon A550 camera, and went through the P/C installation on a windows XP machine with 6 USB 2.0 ports. Installed the software first with no problem, and then plugged the camera in. The computer recognized new hardware, and then asked what software to use to open it. Clicked on the Canon software, and then got a message saying that it couldn't see the camera. Talked with Canon support, and they had me try the Microsoft Camera/Scanner wizard to see if the computer would see it. That didn't work. When I plug the camera in, the P/C beeps, and the camera is loaded in device manager under imaging devices. When I unplug the camera, that entry goes away. I then did multiple reboots of the P/C with all USB devices unplugged with the same result. I get a message box that says it cannot find the camera and to check the USB cable. I tried different cables, different ports etc but no luck.
I know the camera works because it can be seen by another computer using Microsft's camera/scanner wizard
Any ideas would be helpful
Thanks
