I just bought this camera today for my job (photographing dealership vehicles) and man it is AWESOME, the flip out screen (which I had on the S3 and liked but this camera is so much more compact), the speed it works, image quality, all great. My problem is that it won't interface with my PC. I hooked it up when I first got it and it recognized it and seemed to work fine, but I didn't transfer any photos and I may have cancelled the installation of the drivers, and now when I plug it in, it does nothing, the camera acts as if it's not plugged into anything (still photographs, zooms, replays...)
what can I do to fix this? It's a tablet PC running XP
thanks!

First I would uninstall and reinstall the software, just to make sure the drivers are installed correctly. Next, I would check that the Windows Image Acquisition service, SSDP discovery service and Canon Access Library (version 8 or 9, I forget) service are running in the background. You can check your services by going to start, run, and typing in "services.msc". Right click on the services and make sure they are set to start automatically when you start your machine. Then, I would reboot it.
Canon told me to do this when I got my a640. I had the same problem.

It may sound quite basic, but
Be sure the camera mode switch is set to PLAYBACK before connecting to the computer.
First connect the USB cable and then turn the camera ON

playback, as in image view mode? It won't work in photograph mode?

that was it, all it needed was to be switched over to the playback mode, weird for them to require that, but at least it works now. I had been using a card reader and since I have to transfer photos 50-100 times a day i knew the battery door wouldn't last long that way.
THANKS A MILLION!
