I was given this tripod from my Father a long time ago. It's pretty heavy but very well constructed.
Anyone know where I can get parts for it?

Thanks.

Thanks. What part are you trying to get? Is it a generic part, or it has to come from the manufacturer?

Somehow the spring that keeps tension on the screw that goes into the camera is missing and also the base plate is missing the cork material that prevents it from scratching the camera body.

I googled but didn't get any Star D manufacturer website. If the tripod head is not fixed, perhaps it is more economical to buy a new ballhead or pan head?

Somehow the spring that keeps tension on the screw that goes into the camera is missing and also the base plate is missing the cork material that prevents it from scratching the camera body.If you can figure out the size of the spring, you may find a suitable replacement at a good hardware store. You may have to cut a replacement shorter or otherwise modify it, but that shouldn't be a show-stopper.

Go to an automotive supply house and get cork gasket material and the adhesive to bond the cork to metal. That will let you cut and install a perfect replacement for the material on the head.

Couldn't be Tre-D could it? They're Italian, very similar to Gitzo. I use one but don't know anyone else who does. this is the website...

Why not post a picture of the tripod? Someone might recognize it and have an idea...
