i just got my F1 silverstone grandstand tickets delivered today and really looking forward to the race, however, with the focal length i've got, it's very unlikely that i'm gonna get the shots i want, and i couldn't afford to buy another lens at this moment, 'cuz i'm really really broke :?
so, i'm wondering if anyone know where i can rent lens in UK, thinking about renting a 100-400mm IS or a 500 prime, any suggestions? i'm based in manchester, so any shop within northwest would be great.
thanks a million!!! :)

http://www.calumetphoto.com have a branch in Trafford park.
They don't list the 100-400, but do do the 500/f4.5 and 500/f4 L at £46.50 and £57.20 per day respectively. That may have changed, the rental guide on the website is the 2003 edition.
IIRC they require a deposit of the value of the lens, so make sure you've got plenty of available credit on your card. I also believe that they have a discount scheme if you decide to buy the lens - so make sure you don't have TOO much available credit on your cards ;-) ;-)
Whatever happens, have a great time at Silverstone.

there's also a company called Fixation that hire lenses, and (would you believe <G>) hireacamera.co.uk! I know nothing about any of them other than the names, but I was looking a month or so ago...

thanks for the replies, guys, i'll look it up on the website.
it's a shame tho' that i'll need to put down the same amount of money as deposite, if i had the bloody money, i'd bought it ages ago!
will keep trying, and let u know if i get any luck.

Ross, hireacamera.co.uk seems to be run by nikon lovers, canon range is poor calumet is so much better, gonna phone them on monday to get a quote, looks like i'm gonna rent a TC instead, the one that i definitely can afford to rent, wait, i might be able to buy it b4 the race, start saving now ...

I'll second Calumet Photographic.
I bought my camera, lens, and a whole bunch of other things from them. No complaints about their exemplary service. And their rental department is as big as their sales department, if not bigger. They have quite fair rates, too.

I know a photographer who rents his lenses. I think he only rents out the 100-400mm canon USM and a Sigma 10-20mm. In excellent condition right enough. Can he travel back in time 2 years to lend it to the OP? :D :D

This thread is seriously old - I assume the OP is no longer looking to rent ;) ??
