I recently got rather bitter at scottes. I read into his posts in the wrong way while i was a tad cranky. I have a bad habbit of posting when i'm in a pissy mood.
I'm posting this here for a few reasons
1.) It happened in this forum
2.) I like scottes (which is why i was so bothered when i read his post as i did) and want all of you to see this (high traffic).
Of the 4 forums i frequent these are by far my favorite and most important (as they are my only photography forums...which should say a lot)
Sorry again, i hate when forums turn into this sort of BS. That said, read and move on.

Darn. There's precious little excitement in my life and I missed it!
It's good when you catch yourself. Good job, Tim.

Part of the problem is that we only type words, and we only read the words of others. We can't hear the inflection that people put on their words, and we can't hear the emotion. In the absence of that normal information, readers put their own spin on "what they think they read" and things get all out of hand.
After a while, most of us learn that it is unproductive to get into flame wars and all that. It is much more productive to ask the questions that need to be asked and answer the questions that need to be answered. Throw in a touch of opinion, and then get the hell onto the next thread. Laugh a little as you go.

We all get pissy at times, not all of us are big enough to go back and apologise.

So why get mad in the first place? :) It's futile and pointless getting emotional in a digital forum. Just have fun!

Not always that easy if someone strikes a nerve etc.
Respect to Timmyquest for apologising publicly :)

Tim, thank you.
However I will admit that my comments could have been taken in way that was far different than I had intended. When I read them again - even knowing what I meant - I could see the implications. So I understood your anger.
As Bob said, we only type words, and the other aspects of communication - inflection, body language, facial expressions - are absent. It makes life on the forum a little tough sometimes.
The heck with it all. Water under the bridge.
Let's go have some fun and help some noobs spend all their money on L...

Believe me, it is so much better just to walk away from from a word
fight than to get involved in one. Some people think it's a matter of
respect, but they don't realize until it's too late how foolish they look, and
they wind up losing from other members exactly that which they think
they are defending. An apology is a good way to get some of that lost respect back.

Man, this is the most polite forum of any sort I've EVER seen on the internet!
Most forums/newsgroups, etc, are just full of beligerent, letigious, and just plain hateful jerks looking for a fight.
Let's hope it stays this way. :)

Speaking as the owner of a web forum (10 years and counting) I have to add my compliments on the civility of the membership here. And to Tim for your willingness to come forward, well done. On my forum, there's always been a small group, comprising less than 0.01% of the total membership, that manages to poison the atmosphere for the rest on a regular basis.

Word? I doubt it. But, the action? Probably not if it's a verbal action!
You can probably get away with it if you use the "proper" emoticon, though.
