I was talking some photos of my mother tonight. I had the camera on AV, the inbult flash was up and ready to be used. the camera was set to auto focus. The lense that I used was the 50 F1.8.

and the result.

If you require more information about the image, save and check the exif info.

As you can see the image is out of focus, and I don't understand why. the camera had reported focus as I pressed down the shutter button.

Please no comments how I need to get a better flash, like the 550ex, as I already know this, can at this point I have no real need to get one. since I had the camera, this is the only time I really needed a flash in use of taking photos of a person.

anyway thanks for any help on this topic.

Does it do this every time?
Did you take more than one shot?
What did you focus on?

I am not to sure, this is the first time that I had used the flash, with this lens to take a photo of someone. the other times it is normaly during the day with plenty of light.

Did you take more than one shot?
Yes, I had taken about 45 photos, unless I had the camera set in "p", or did a manual foucs most of the shots came out like this. I did notice that when I did have the camera set in "p" the camera had chossen F4, where I had set the camera to F2.

What did you focus on?
I had focused on the face, the image that I had post is the image resized only. I guess I should have said that in the orignal post,

I guess the problem is I am not understanding what the camera is trying to do. or what I am trying to tell the camera what to do :?

does this help
