Found my answer after some extensive searching http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=278&cpage=2&sort=&perpage=15&cat=50

Comments still welcome from others who may own or have owned this guy ...

I have one. Loaded, it's very heavy. It's probably too thick to officially pass as carry on but it will fit in the overheads....barely. I don't use mine much as I've found that like side carry bags much better than backpacks. It does hold a lot internally and the exterior top pocket is very large and holds a lot of stuff.
